Boasting magnificent academic heritage, Oxford is a beautiful city where Gothic spires intermingle with medieval colleges. Comprising England’s oldest university, most of the 38 unique colleges are sadly only viewable from the outside. Two visitable ones are Magdalen College, considered one of the most beautiful, and Christchurch College whose quadrangle was used in the 1st Harry Potter film. Its cathedral choir also sings evensong.
Other notable colleges are Balliol and Merton, the 2 oldest, while Hertford College has the Bridge of Sighs. Next door is the cavernous Bodleian Library, overlooking the round Radcliffe Camera, the city’s best-known landmark.
The university also has a botanical garden and the best Oxford museums, including the Ashmolean Museum and Natural History Museum, where swifts nest in summer.
Unsurprisingly for a student town, it has lots of bars and restaurants. Oxford shopping is also good and includes England’s oldest covered market, brightly coloured High Street shops, and the Clarendon and Westgate shopping centres.
Whether you arrive by road or fly into London Oxford Airport, don’t leave without trying Oxford punting. In contrast to rival Cambridge, you punt here by standing in the front (rather than on the back). Easily accessed from the Oxford accommodation on Booking.com, the routes take in the River Cherwell and the Isis (the name for this part of the Thames).
We had a two day trip which was perfect. There isn’t a lot to see or do.
You need to have a walking tour to see the colleges and learn history. You can book to go inside a number of the buildings. The botanical garden is a lovely visit. A river trip is a good experience.
There are some very good English pubs in the city and surrounding areas worth a visit.
Blenheim Palace is worth a visit but is 30 minutes away.
It’s not a shopping city.

I liked being outside teh city centre - with Oxford you need to be right in the city (often expensive) or right out. In summer the tourist crowds can be oppressive outside teh colleges, so it's nice to hve a peaceful place to come back to.

It is a very beautiful, intricate and fascinating place with wonderful museums and a wide range of events and activities every day and evening. The local people are very hospitable, kind and accommodating. So many people were happy to help me and give me advice or just have a conversation with a visitor.

Beautiful city. Calm and relaxed. People are courteous and polite. Loved the slow life. City centre doesn’t have many attractions so one can take the 2 hr. Walking tour. Many great places to eat . And all under one roof Westgate shopping centre too.

Lovely place to visit.
Lovely place to visit. I went as my family grew up in Oxford and I have never been before. Drove from Oxford to Fritwell, then onto Bicester. Lovely little trip. The city centre was beautiful, so much to do in the short time I was there.

The hotel is very unique.
The hotel is very unique. We stayed in one of the cell rooms which added to the experience. I think if you didn’t stay in one of the cell rooms, it would feel like staying in any other nice hotel. Just bare in mind that the cell rooms do not have a window that you can look out of, only a little window near the ceiling, it is literally 2-3 old Victorian prison cells converted into one room, so you wouldn’t expect there to be a window to look out of. The cell room feels very spacious and very nicely converted, with a prison vibe going on. If you are driving to the hotel, to avoid disappointment, make sure you reserve parking. Parking is VERY limited.
We had an evening meal in the hotel, which was excellent, a little over priced maybe? So I was expecting an excellent breakfast, but sadly not. I had full English and my breakfast was warm, not hot. Found the bacon and potato croquettes quite rubbery. I felt my breakfast was probably cooked an hour ago and was kept under one of them warming lights. Even if my breakfast was freshly cooked, I still think for breakfast it was extremely over priced.
Over all the hotel was superb and is in a fantastic location, centre of Oxford. Everything you want to see and do in Oxford is all within walking distance.
I would gladly recommend this hotel.
Our room was clean and had all the essentials. Staff were friendly and helpful. The decor in the downstairs area was really lovely and colourful. Breakfast was good and they had decent vegetarian options, although it finished quite early (9am). They also allowed me to check out 30 mins late as I had a work meeting in the morning which I wanted to take from the room. Also, the price is really good for Oxford which is generally quite expensive for hotels. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel with regular buses going to the city centre.
The hotel is excellent, it was better than I expected for the price. Lobby is tastefully decorated and smells really fresh and has a coffee shop, nice bar and restaurant and small shop selling essentials. Staff were polite and professional and very helpful and the rooms were perfectly clean and well equipped with hairdryer, iron, kettle, fridge, toiletries (except hair conditioner so take your own.) 2-3 miles from Oxford City centre so location was OK. Breakfast was good with an ample selection of all the usual foods you'd expect.
The gentleman who checked us in was great. We felt really welcome. The room was very nice, comfortable, clean, and well stocked. The hotel itself was an attractive property. The dinner we had our first night was excellent and the service was good, if a little slow. We liked the fact that we were allowed to keep our car in their parking lot for free after checkout so that we had more time to tour Oxford.
Hotel was perfect location for our dinner at Somerville College and for all the sites of Oxford 12 min walk to city centre & hotel has parking. Staff were very obliging & the room super comfortable & thoughtfully resourced with for example fresh milk. Food is good enough and certainly well cooked and tasty.
Spacious room, with some nice Persian / Middle Eastern touches in furnishings. Tea and coffee making facilities. Strong WIFI. Great location between city centre and the Oxford University college I attended for my conference. The independent Lebanese restaurant at ground level (below the hotel) is fabulous!
Good value for Oxford. Convenient for St Anne’s college. Up to 30 mins walk to city centre or short bus ride but plenty of bars and restaurants close to hotel - Jericho or Summertown not too far. Lady on reception was lovely - I think her name was Anja
Breakfast was excellent with loads of options
Hotel reception staff, on arrival very helpful and friendly they let us check into one of our rooms early so we could change for our sons graduation that afternoon.
Bedrooms lovely & breakfast very good. Free parking.
Walking distance to park & ride so easy to get into Oxford city centre.
Nice business class hotel with all the comforts and amenities of a modern hotel. Nice functional bathroom, roomy shower, working air conditioner, large-ish room. They have a bar. Breakfast was pretty decent. A welcome respite after all the 'charming' little hotels in England.
Location good. 50 min walk into Oxford city centre. Regular bus an alternative to walking. Bus stop very near hotel.
Lovely breakfast.
Staff polite and helpful, nothing to much trouble for them.
Shower in room was hot and powerful.
Bed comfortable.
This was bay far the best hotel to stay at for being in the center of Oxford but also in a small, picturesque setting. The hotel has all the facilities you could want, excellent breakfast, rooftop garden seating, nice rooms, it’s expensive but worth it.
The Jericho section of Oxford is an up-and-coming spot that is very close to the Center City (15 minute walk), and has many, many good shops and food places within it. This hotel is in the heart of Jericho. Great location.
The location is excellent for walking to Oxford University and local pubs and attractions.
The hotel restaurant has OUSTANDING FOOD... the best we had while in Oxford.
The staff is very friendly and professional.
It was a great stay i really enjoyed the customer service. Great Support from Josh and Diana. They were very supportive. I highly recommend easyhotel to anyone who is staying in oxford!
Easy to access, very quick check in, friendly staff, close to amenities in Summertown and easy bus access to Oxford City Centre
For a cheap hotel the bed was really comfortable
We loved the uniqueness of the hotel and it's history. The location was very convenient for a quick trip to Oxford, and it was nice not to have to worry about parking.
Great value for money considering it is right in the Headington High Street with very easy access to Oxford city centre, hotels in Oxford are generally very expensive.
