Location and comfort. Friendly atmosphere. Small relaxing space and beautiful grounds. Food was of good quality.

The bird in hand is decorated with care, in keeping with the surrounding areas, themed well and is much bigger than expected. I also really liked the fact the rooms were somewhat seperate from the pub.

A really great home in an easily accessible location. It had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. We were lucky that the weather was great so we could use the garden too. Able to extend check out time a little later too to suit our needs.
Would highly recommend!

Great little bolt hole, clean and tidy. Decent sized rooms and good shower/WC facilities.
Smart door locks meant I could check in when I needed (late!) and check out without having to wait for anyone!

We have traveled a lot of the years and YOY was friendly and organised.
The only thing worth mentioning is the stairs are steep and it maybe a problem if someone have heavy cases or a knee disability. Overall, everything else was good. Plenty of everything and the owners try hard to make your stay a happy one.

We only stayed one night but about half a mile away from the hotel we found a restaurant which overlooks the Thames and had a wonderful meal which made up a little for the disappointment with the hotel we booked

Boulters Mill and Ray Mill Island were fabulous to walk around, had a nice coffee in a lovely spot at the Piazza just a little further on from the Boathouse which we sat at but didn't order at as they were coming into lunch service and we just wanted coffee. Ate on a very warm summer's evening at Roux at Skindles Mill which was on our doorstep having stayed at the Thames Riveria Hotel. We sat on the terrace and ate a most delightful meal, finished up at the Hall & Woodhouse Boatyard at which we sat outside all evening as very warm. All in all a superb day with lots of lovely things to do and places to go. Evening before we had gone to the Bear near Maidenhead town and that was very pleasant and reasonable as you would expect from Wetherspoons.

Good stay but I belive it should be made clear that there are two buildings and you may not actually stay in the hotel building but the adjacent building and our room did not have a safe or dressing gown and slippers as other rooms do.

The accommodation is within walking distance of the river and there is an excellent Thai restaurant in the next street and I can highly recommend the food. My trip was for work purposes, so I didn't have time for sightseeing.

The river and walks around are lovely.
The river and walks around are lovely. Boulter's Lock is very close - a noted beauty spot, as is Cliveden with its extensive NT gardens, river walk and echoes of scandal.
Maidenhead itself, on the other hand, is badly run-down, as are so many town centres these days. The shopping mall would have been modest in its heyday, but with many empty units, betting and charity shops on its high Street, it resembles the epitome of broken Britain. The shopping centre car park is now closed, permanently by the look of it, and the nearest multistorey is a nightmare to access with evidence of many cars leaving paintwork on the narrow entry/exit bollards.
An area that obviously has many exceptionally expensive private houses and quite extensive recently built apartments, reveals an unexpectedly disappointing town centre.
1. General decor of the hotel. 2. Quality and comfort of the bed. 3. Bathroom and fittings 4. Bar and buffet breakfast.
Location was great, over looking the Thames. A nice pub, The Lord Grenfell about 200m away. Excellent beer choice and a good looking pub menu. I went to an excellent Indian, also 200m away from the hotel. The town and station is about 30 minute walk. This is an option for staying here before a flight from Heathrow - Maidenhead is on the Elizabeth line and Heathrow is 30 mins away (Change at Hayes and Harlington)
Hotel is a one off. Very high standard of decoration and cleanliness. Staff (and owner) are very friendly and helpful. Free on-site parking and fast Wi-Fi. Lovely friendly three-legged cat makes it :)
I am now retired but I spent a LOT of my working life traveling and working away from home. This is the third best hotel I have EVER stayed in.
The room was very clean and comfy. I am allergic and usually struggle when I stay at hotels, but this place was very clean and tidy and I didn’t experience any allergic reactions.
The property is well located and the town centre is within a short walk.
The host made the whole experience even better with great conversations. I felt at home
Due to change of plans we had to find alternative accommodation quickly in Henley/Maidenhead area. Luckily we came across this pub. Room was of good size, very comfortable, fresh milk in fridge, good sized bathroom. Breakfast generous and well cooked. We ate there each night and thoroughly enjoyed the food both nights.
Wonderful overnight stay with our adult children as part of a significant birthday celebration and over the moon to be upgraded to a fabulous suite!
Beautiful hotel and the bedroom and garden by the river a joy - even on a grey day.
A real treat and so well looked after by Alessandra. Thank you.
Absolutely lovely hotel we used just for stopping from work
Rooms are spotless and extras you get compared to other hotels was brilliant
Bonus if your a smoker open your door to the balcony and lovely view
Food was exceptional
And all for a great price
Highly recommended
Breakfast was a bit disappointing, I asked for porridge, and you don't do it.
Not a lot of staff on, I know it was Christmas. On the whole the Breakfast wasn't as bad as some hotels I've been to.
When I'm in Maidenhead again I'll definitely book up.
The location: on the banks of the Thames River, with ten+ swans nearby, in a historic hotel (though it is no longer possible to arrive at the hotel by river boat)..
The restaurant is comfortable and provides a delicious breakfast (cost extra).
There was a Domino’s pizza about 8-10 minutes walk away.
There was a pub/restaurant, which would be a bonus for some, but I didn’t go in.
Plenty of towels were supplied.
It was maybe only 17-20 minutes to walk into the town centre.
Large, comfortable, quiet, well-equipped room ( number 6 ) overlooking pool and garden. Staff ( Sarah ) was most helpful, hospitable and accommodating. Good parking and wi-fi. Great walks from the hotel along the Thames paths
We booked for a twin room quiet postion. Room 115 which is very pleasant was made up for a double bed . We were given 112. Breakfast was excellent. The room and hotel was very clean and comfortable. Supper was delicious.
All the staff were very helpful, couldn’t do enough for you very friendly.
Loved the hotel the surrounding area, so relaxing.
When we enquired about the age of the hotel we were even given a booklet for us to read
The location is great, very close to Maidenhead town centre and next to a lovely pub with a big beer garden. The room itself had all of the amenities, comfortable bed, TV, hair-dryer and so on.
The Staff are welcoming and very helpful. Lucy was very helpful and willing to go out their way.
Hotel is very cozy but for single traveller it was excellent, clean and very comfortable.
Staff kindness.
Excellent food/restaurant meals and menu
Excellent option for breakfast and dinner included
Good sauna and Jacuzzi facilities
Peaceful hotel and surrounding/garden
Everything was as I expect a good hotel to be. And my only fault was I couldn't sample the food in the restaurant below! Very pleasant stay. Would very happily stay again.
We had a good, reasonably-priced dinner in the restaurant. Room offered good value-for-money. The hotel construction was well-isolated from the guest rooms.
