Location was good for us. But for those with mobility concerns it is on the valley side so slopes and steps to get to town.

A great example of a northern mill town but not the main reason for visiting this picturesque Yorkshire town.
Famed for the BBC show "Last of the Summer Wine", it's a mecca for anyone who's funny bone has been tickled by this warm comedy from the 70's through to the early part of the 2000's.
Modern hostelries abound, some great exhibitions, cafes and pubs used extensively in the TV series all combined with the beauty of the Yorkshire landscape featured throughout the escapades of the characters of the show.
We'll be back in the summer to further explore the scenic beauty and further enjoy the views these three old men brought to life on our TV screens.

Holmfirth is a great place to visit.
Holmfirth is a great place to visit. Home of “Last of the summer wine” of course but also a great venue to visit is The Picturedrome for a Northern Soul music gig which was fantastic. Some lovely bars and eateries plus some quirky shops as well. Defo a place to visit for the weekend.

Fantastic variety of independent pubs, restaurants and cafes...
Fantastic variety of independent pubs, restaurants and cafes, for both day and night. Most places are dog friendly. Holmfirth does not just feel like a tourist town, but a genuinely welcoming, thriving town for all and the neighbouring villages and country pubs are well worth exploring. P
Hotel lovely as reviewed.
The only issue is its position, next to The Picturedrome in Holmfirth.
There was a DJ gig on that night till 1 am!.
It was so loud we thought we were in there with them.
Afterwards people on their way home shouting, swearing, singing trying to get taxis.
Ive no issue with any of this but not just next door to the hotel.
So be very aware of when your booking, it night be a noisy night. Check The Picturedromes line up see whos on and if you want a quiet night go when a band is on as they come off stage for 11pm.
The owner Andrea was very friendly and helpful with a good sense of humor. She left a personalised booklet giving advice on local places that were good and those that were not so. The cottage was really nice and clean and full of character with quirky-shaped rooms and corridors. We came down to see bands that were playing at the Picturedome, which was an easy 2-minute walk, as were a number of restaurants for after. We will no doubt be coming back once more bands we like come play Holmfirth.
Very clean and comfortable room, although the bathroom was rather compact. Great location in picturesque town centre with very nice atmosphere, whilst the staff were also very friendly . Restaurant had a varied menu and food was good. Equally there was a broad breakfast menu (included in price) from continental to full English, with a variety of options between the two.
On the hills above Holmfirth, closer to Meltham, so we didn’t walk in for an evening. Views though fabulous.Wonderful helpful staff. Busy restaurant area, no real lounge/ bar though no problem with sitting and having a drink in the restaurant. Big garden and function room. Breakfast generally good, could have been improved with warm plates.
Great pub/hotel, staff very friendly and attentive, food excellent - best Rag Pudding we've ever had - location just right - close enough to Holmfirth but far enough away to avoid crowds. Darren and Vicky great hosts and we wish them well for the future. We would certainly recommend the White Horse.
Very nicely decorated rooms and comfortable. Staff where lovely. Pub/ restaurant downstairs was very nice although we only had drinks but the food looked nice. Great location for either a long walk into Holmfirth or a short cheap ride in a taxi.
Fabulously located in the heart of Holmfirth and very close to shops, pubs and cafes. Really well resourced with everything thing you could possibly think of for a comfortable self catering stay. I’d definitely return and highly recommend.
Nice contemporary interior decoration in the rooms, excellent breakfast with good breakfast menu choices, very helpful and friendly staff, great food in the restaurant, good location for Holmfirth and the surrounding area.
Cosy cottage, comfy beds, well equipped. Easy walk into Holmfirth. Kate, the host, very helpful, excellent communication and gave very good suggestions for local walks and pubs for food.
Lovely little cottage with everything you need. This was our second stay in this cottage as we loved it so much last time.
Great views over Holmfirth town and a short walk to get there.
We adored everything. The unique cottage, the perfect location and, of course, Holmfirth. Heath, the owner, is dedicated, welcoming and informative. We will certainly visit again soon.
Beautiful location on the hill outside Holmfirth. Always first choice when visiting the area. Friendly staff, lovely cosy rooms, bar and breakfast room. Very relaxed atmosphere.
The staff were really welcoming and friendly. The room was large and clean. It was the perfect location for our night out at The Picturedrome. Lovely food before going out too
This cottage has so much character, such a lovely place situated right in the heart of Holmfirth. Heath, the owner, couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was perfect.
