Lyn and Lee were fabulous hosts and offered above and beyond. Room was more spacious than anticipated with private bath. Quiet even with being on the main road. Delicious breakfast and even vegetarian options (including vegetarian haggis)! And having tea and coffee in the room was nice to have.

Not a great deal in Elgin, to be honest, but it's still well worth a visit just to see and go round the cathedral, particularly on a fine day! The city's also well placed to stay over as you explore the coast and surrounding countryside (including its many distilleries and castles). The hotel where we stayed had no dinner service, but there's a selection of restaurants in the town to choose from and the local 'Spoons is the same good value no matter where you are!

It's a good base for visiting lots of places in Moray and it has a few historical attractions itself, like the cathedral. It has a nice swimming pool, ice rink, park and places to walk. You can walk most places easily. The town centre has a lot of character but the actual shops are getting more sparse with each year. We enjoy the charity shops. There are some good cafes and restaurants too.

A hire car is vital, though I also travelled by bus.
A hire car is vital, though I also travelled by bus. The cathedral Is very interesting & I enjoyed the museum. Johnstons cashmere factory has lovely things & an excellent restaurant. Elgin was my mother's home town & I know it well but for many it will seem small & unimpressive ; it is however a useful base to explore the valley of the river Spey if you like the best whisky, or go to the sea at Lossiemouth or visit the lovely walled garden at Gordon Castle at Fochabers.

Elgin is a nice market town and like many Scottish towns, it has seen better days, but it is perfectly located for exploring the local area - notably the coast villages of Lossiemouth and Hopeman - both are charming.
It has a couple of nice pubs - Thunderton and Drouthy Cobbler, the latter being good for food, and a few excellent coffee shops - allowing you to avoid the chains. It's time will come again.
When I arrived and was met by the owner he explained how things worked at the B&B, as he was there himself, and showed me to my room which was on the ground floor and had a walk in toilet shower room which was excellent for me and had everything I required for my stay. Breakfast in the morning was was delicious and set me up for the day ahead.
I chatted away with the owner at breakfast and he was very friendly and I would recommend this property as its right in the centre of Elgin minutes from the shopping centre.
The room we were allocated (a superking, I believe) had a four poster bed, television, bathroom with bath and shower, and tea/coffee-making facilities. It was a good size, very clean, comfortable and easy on the eye, and had French Doors to the grounds.
The hotel seemed to be running with a skeleton staff compliment, however, the breakfast waitress (different person each day) was excellent considering she was, also, covering reception. Both girls were pleasant, well-organised, and efficient.
Visit to Elgin with friends for a wedding. Lovely little cottage, perfect for our needs over the weekend. Host really lovely, we got very delayed with our flight and they made us feel at ease even with arriving much later than planned. Lots of little extras such as milk, biscuits and jams which was a lovely touch. Very clean and well presented. Good location, close to shops and the train station, short walk into the town.
Donald was just great . He was very helpful and cooks a great breakfast in the morning. Good strong WiFi and great hot water. Parking directly on street in front of property. Very small property with a very family homey feel, loved it. Good heat, quiet location considering you are in the city center, The beautiful Elgin Cathedral is a 2 minute walk right around the block, Wonderful breakfast. 10 ++++ /A+++ stay.
Great price with excellent service. The hotel is cozy, nice and clean. It's surrounded by grocery stores with a reasonable walking distance from the rail station. Although the staff insisted on offering a pick-up service which was never expected it! Definitely going to choose here for my next visit in Elgin!!!
The breakfast was wonderful, the owner was very nice, the room and bathroom were clean
Plenty of blankets and warm quilts. Close to downtown Elgin and the ruins of the cathedral.
Advice: when the hostess recommends a good place to eat, listen to her as she knows what’s good. I would recommend this B& B
The Moraydale is an imposing building which has been discretely modernized without the general ambience being undermined. The room was comfortable and clean with the en suite and in-room facilities in good order and well appointed. Breakfast was excellent and the location an easy walk from central Elgin.
Breakfast was really good. Isabel was a great host/owner. She went above and beyond to help us with recommendations and golf tee times. The neighborhood is cute and within walking distance to great restaurants and shopping. Came for a race in dufftown and the proximity to everything from Elgin was great
The hosts are wonderful, very friendly and nice. We can definitely recommend to stay here. We got a delicious cooked breakfast, the room was beautiful, freshly renovated with nice bathroom.
At our next stay in Elgin we will definitely stay there again if possible.
We enjoyed our stay. Very comfy beds, off-street parking, and a fully equipped kitchen. Good location when visiting Elgin. Very good communication from the hosts. We will definitely book again when visiting the area.
Excellent staff , always respectful, helpful and friendly . Rooms are always clean, food is always excellent. If I have to stay in a hotel in Elgin my first choice is always the Sunninghill, and Ive tried them all.
Amazing building. Good size rooms and very comfortable. Lovely grounds and convenient location. Has potential to be a really high end hotel with investment
