Bryn Tyrch Rooms, hotel in Capel-Curig

Set in Capel-Curig and with Snowdon reachable within 11 km, Bryn Tyrch Rooms offers a garden, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi and a shared lounge.

My room was clean and comfortable. I was doing a recce for a running race so had 2 nights booked. I am pretty self sufficient so bring all my food for the duration. I liked the fact I could arrive any time and there were codes for the door and key boxes for room keys. That means I can stay out as late as I like in the mountains. The owner also had a scheme where loan travellers could register their phone numbers before their days out and text to say they were off the mountains, which was very reassuring. There was plenty of free parking available. The literature about this Inn said breakfast could be purchased for £00.10 (10p)? I thought it was a misprint and was £10. On my arrival day I had a text saying a free complementary breakfast of cereal and toast was available, which I gladly accepted.

Royal Oak Hotel, hotel in Capel-Curig

Set in a magnificent former coaching inn, Royal Oak Hotel is surrounded by the beautiful mountains of Snowdonia National Park.

My boyfriend and I were very welcome by the lady named Jennifer at the reception with a big smile and chatting for a few mins. The room was absolutely beautiful, clean, big. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was lovely. Great location for shops and hiking, too. The breakfast was very delicious and there were different options to choose from. We will definitely return back in the future.

There is not much in the way of facilities at the village itself but it is an excellent base if you are into hill walking/hiking. There is a reasonable bus service to get around and plenty of places to eat a short drive away. It is also very easy to get to other parts of Snowdonia being at the junction of two main roads.
