The pictures do not do this lovely little cottage justice. It was homely with plenty of space for the four of us and it was quite the bonus that each bedroom had its own ensuite, something I was not expecting!
We will definitely return as the location is ideal and it has all the amenities one could ask for.

Nice historical building in the centre of the town, and the staff was friendly.
Perfectly situated within the Valley and on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, the hotel’s position allows easy access to many of the sites of interest in the area

Aberdare seems a pleasant enough Welsh town with a good number of pubs and eateries and good access to surrounding towns, countryside and Cardiff. Our stay was largely about visiting family and so we did not make intensive use of the available entertainment.

National Trust Big Pit and getting to go down disused coal...
National Trust Big Pit and getting to go down disused coal mine - staff were fabulous, really interesting for all ages and worth a visit. Free
Tower Zip World - hubby and son had a fab 1-1.5 hours on zip line - Approx £50 each. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Bike Park Wales - £47.00 each without equipment hire they do full hire package too - well worth the visit, staff were friendly. Exhausting but fulfilling day spent going down mountain - you learn how unfit you are though as it is physically challenging.
Barry Island - Home of Gavin and Stacey - paid parking but sea front is clean and well served - we went in April so rides etc only open at weekends but beach is clean and sandy. G/F fish and chips from Boofy’s on the sea front - fab ouuu lusss.
Dunraven Pub - Treherbert - fab food and fab service. Catered for my Coeliac hubby which was a true bonus.
Four Waterfalls Walk - amazing views and worth a visit but requires a decent amount of fitness, walk is 7.8 Kms and is tough going at times on uneven surfaces, gravel rocks, tree roots and slippy surfaces - dogs allowed but our Scottish terrier was k******ed by the time we got back, her legs were stumpier than usual. Parking around £5.00

I was born in Aberdare and it was good to visit after many years. As with many valleys towns it looks sad compared to what it used to but still has many things to attract visitors including an excellent market.
It is an ideal position for the Dare Valley Country Park as well as the Brecon Beacons. The town park - just north of the town centre - is a brilliant place where motorcycle racing occurs annually.
If you stay there, try to do the Waterfalls Walk around Ystradfellte and Penderyn.

Very easy walk into town, which is well serviced by a broad range of local shops along with a nearby Tesco superstore with petrol station. Needed an optician (forgot to pack spare contact lenses( and a choice of three within 5 mins walk.

Abedare is ideally suited for exploring. The local walks are wonderful but also close to everywhere else you might like to explore. Town has everything you might need whilst you are away. Supermarkets, pubs, shops etc.

Dare Park nearby has good walks and Lakes , also nice cafe and food, drive up into the hills for great views and also more walks, try Welsh Rarebit on Lava bread, Abedare has lots of take away food shops, however a lot dont take card, there are cash machines nearby, watch out for speed cameras and also 20MPH restricted zones, Asda food store nearby, before you book hotel , call the reception and make sure it has good wifi signal in the room,
Super little home from home, with everything you need. Two bedrooms and a quaint front garden and rear yard. Maria was super helpful, nothing was too much trouble. A three minute drive to Tesco, pub next door and great little pizza van. Lots of fantastic places to visit and things to do nearby in a beautiful part of Wales.
The cottage was amazing its set on a farm with brilliant views overlooking aberdare, it was home from home even my 2 year old daughter loved it. I will definitely be coming back, wish I had booked more days. We was over for a sad reason so didnt get to see any of the places or do any of the walks.
The house was in a prime location close to major supermarkets and stunning aberdare park. The garden overlooks beautiful scenic views of the hills. The hosts are brilliant. We needed an iron and washing up liquid late at night and within 5 minutes the hosts had dropped them off.
Check in was excellent, really helpful, room was amazing and the bed was comfy and shower was powerful. Breakfast was really good and good choices. The staff were all excellent and friendly. Really recommend the Marquis Hotel. Keep up the great work!!
it’s only 20 minutes from Pen y Fan and easy access to Aberdare park which was great for the dog as there is no suitable outside space at the accommodation.
Clean, modern decor with lots of extras already provided.
This was our second time staying at The Marquis. Super cozy, great food and bar, nice staff! Walking distance from the train station, into the lovely town of Aberdare and of course to Jacs!
Lovely cottage. Beautifully furnished. A proper warm Welsh welcome . A real home from home. Great location . Ideal for train travel to Cardiff. Easy to walk into Aberdare itself.
The hotel was very clean and the rooms well stocked with tea, coffee etc as well as toiletries and towels. The staff were lovely and friendly and breakfast was exceptional.
In an ideal situation and the lady was lovely! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in this area. The Italian restaurant close by in Aberdare was great too
The best hotel I've been in, really lovely staff, kind and caring would definitely recommend to anyone. Has a nice view and a little river next to it for a relaxing time
Everything needed for a quiet short break, aberdare on your doorstep with an really good market not far to beacons and other places of interest highly recommend
