Our Nakamatsuya stay was absolutely perfect. The staff were so welcoming and helpful - an English speaking host came to greet us on arrival as neither of us are Japanese - and the timings of dinner and onsen availability etc was explained thoroughly. They allowed us to drop our luggage before check in and it was waiting for us in our room on arrival. The room was beautiful and the ultimate comfort. We had the western/mix room with it's own private hot spring bath. We changed into our robes and tabi socks as soon as we arrived and pretty much wore them the entire time, including for a walk around the town in the evening. It's easily the most luxurious place we stayed throughout our whole trip, and this was partly to do with the fact that there were only 25 rooms so it felt very quiet and relaxing - I was the only person in the hot spring bath when I arrived! The outdoor top floor bath has a gorgeous view of the mountains and there is a cold beer vending machine outside the onsen entrance so we sat in the relaxation space with a cold beer as soon as we left the bath. Heavenly!
Kaiseki dinner was incredible and we tried numerous sakes. Breakfast was also incredible with numerous delicious small tastes of various seasonal and traditional dishes.
It is an expensive hotel but when you consider everything that comes with it I believe it is worth it for a truly memorable experience.
Hostel mog features a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and bar in Ueda. The property is around 22 km from Honmachi Machiyakan, 41 km from Suzaka City Zoo and 41 km from Nagano Station.

Very cosy capsules and clean facilities. Had two very good nights here! The owner is also very kind!
Bessho Onsen is a magic place just outside Ueda, full of lovely temples and hot springs. This Ryokan fully embraces the vibe of this little village and offers good facilities in an amazing surroundings. The hotel is pretty old, which gives it a nostalgic feeling. But it is perfectly kept and with all the amenities you should wish for. A lovely room, amazing gardens, very good indoor and outdoor hot springs and a very very good restaurant. We had the best breakfast of our entire trip there! Last but not least the staff is absolutely lovely.
the staff was friendly and accommodating, the hotel very well maintained, the rooms comfortable and very well appointed. We had a Mountain View room on the upper floors, defiantly worth it. Also, I did half board, breakfast and dinner - that was a great value. although breakfast was way to much food, the dinner was fantastic! the Onsen on the to[ floor is Avila le pretty much at\ll day long and provide fantastic views
The host was very friendly and accommodating. The facilities were much nicer than I expected. I stayed in the dorm, and the space I was given was comfortable, roomy, and with a pull-down screen for privacy. As with any hostel, the others staying there can be noisy, and it seemed as though there was a lot of activity throughout the night. But it's to be expected. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with my stay.
The location certainly can't be beat. When I got to Ueda and checked in, I'd been walking around the city all day – I was surprised at just how close to the station it was! For the price, it's shockingly convenient. I was up in the morning and on the train within 15 minutes after I left the hotel – and that time includes buying a ticket and some quick souvenirs.
Also, the pillows were very comfortable.
Incredible nice welcome and checkin procedure. Everything is freshly renovated and brand new. Drinks for free and private Onsen is amazing, so beautiful with the outside pool and view to the forest. Room was big and had everything. The owner acconpanied us to a local Izakaya close by and we had an amazing dinner in tyoical japanese atmosphere cloe to hotel. Village is super cozy.
Every part of our experience was wonderful. The staff were thoughtful, accommodating, and committed to making our experience more special than we could have imagined. Their effort to make our experience enjoyable and full was noted every day, and I would highly recommend staying here to anyone visiting Nagano! Great facilities, thoughtful touches, and world class staff!
A great location in the Ueda Station area. The room has everything you need including a table for working at. Plenty of places to charge everything. It's a typical business hotel done very well. There's two restaurants downstairs - as I was late in, it was great to grab a bite inside the hotel.
i love the free amenities in the lobby thou it's inconvenient but it's also logical. the amenities have a lot i can say a lot more than fancy hotels have they have free ofuru salt, skin care, men after shave you name it.
The hotel is conveniently located by the station which allowed us access to many restaurants and sight seeing places. The breakfast didn't have much variety but it was good.
Close location to Ueda train station. If you find a low price for this and need to stay near Ueda station, it is worth the stay. A typical business hotel.
