The hosts were accommodating. We arrived quite late due to delayed flights and transport. However, the hosts waited for us until 3am to give us the keys. Really wonderful service. The amenities were all available and well maintained. We especially loved the pool and barbecue area for the whole family. I truly recommend visiting Avelie Casa Do Monte for an unforgettable break with your loved ones. I’ll be visiting again in no time.

A great place to stay, tastefully decorated and comfortable to stay in.
I liked meeting Lalo who was there when I arrived at the property and who put a lot of effort in making me feel welcome and in explaining how everything worked in and around the property.
Boasting inner courtyard views, Suite da Joaninha features accommodation with a terrace, around 2 km from Foz do Minho Beach.

Caminha, a fortified border town located at the mouth of the river Minho, where several battles were fought between Portugal and Spain, now has much more friendly relations with its neighbor , it is a nice place to stay a few days to discover the area, unfortunately the ferry that connects the two banks of the river, is out of service.

I have been taking holidays in Caminha for over 30 years so it is one of my favourite spots. The town is small and everything is in walking distance, packed with enough restaurant choices to keep you satisfied and very well fed. Around it there's plenty interesting things to see and places to visit, also more restaurants with more excellent food to enjoy. The proximity with Spain is also a bonus.

Great little town with a lots of culture and tradition.
Great little town with a lots of culture and tradition. As a pilgrim, there were not so many places to stay, but I met some lovely people there. I loved walking along the river Minho, beautiful landscape, fascinating architecture. It's a quiet town that is located on the riverbank of Rio Minho and you can cross the river by ferry to Spain.

CAMINHA is a very attractive little town especially the old centre which has a lovely bustling square !
Many decent reasonably priced restaurants.
There are lovely clean beaches & super views across the River Minho to Spain !
Ideally located for walking on the beautiful unspoilt Serra da Arga or along the coastline.
Easy to nip across to Spain on the cheap ferry.
Good train service to other interesting places.
The house is absolutely amazing, right in the centre of Caminha, 10 minutes walk from train station, which takes you to some lovely beaches & beautiful historic towns all within 30 minutes.. The house was spotlessly clean, lovely garden for a relaxing breakfast or a wine on the balcony over looking the quiet street.. if you like a walking or just getting out of porto or Lisbon, this place is for you.. I recommend the walk to the beach through the pine forest. The real portugal. Stay here you won't be disappointed.
We stayed at Patricia's gorgeous guesthouse while waking the Camino Portugues. She welcomed us with a hug, and our jaws dropped when we saw the beautiful bedroom and the spacious patio with a view over the Minho River to Spain!
Kitchen was well outfitted and the restaurant down the block was grand.
The next day Patricia gave us a lift back to Caminha ... she is a few km north of the boat we needed to take to cross to Spain.
Location location location. Our room looked over the Minho river. Our bathroom looked onto the matiz church. The ferry station to Spain was one minute to the right same as supermarket. The room was very spacious with a large bathroom and lots of windows onto the river. Short walk to the centre and many cafes and restaurants. A well renowned restaurant downstairs which was closed being a Sunday.
Magnificent views over the river Mino and Spain. From the room you could see the sun set behind the hill. The rooms are like individual bungalows with panoramic windows floor to ceiling. Very quiet place ideal for good sleep and relaxation. As the location of the hotel is high up the hill the air is very clean. Easy walk down to the village of Seixas.
What an excellent and upmarket hotel on the riverfront of Caminha but very affordable and good value for money.
Hotel has excellent amenities with well appointed and comfortable spacious neat and clean rooms - spectacular common areas, very friendly and helpful staff.
I can highly recommend this hotel.
The venue and location were quite beautiful. The main building, an elegantly converted water mill next to a river, is a great space to unwind. Diana, the host, has an interest in natural produce, offered homemade savoury cakes and her mother, a variety of homemade preserves…delicious. Big thanks.
Terrific newly renovated facility with eco friendly initiatives at its core. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Kitchen facilities provided and close to shops and laundromat. Very convenient to the boat dock for travel to Spain. A great stay on our Camino.
Wonderful reception. Great breakfast offering, nice kitchen area. The best and most wonderful feature for me is the foot soak spa. I never knew I wanted such a thing and was forever after disappointed not to have such a thing again during my travels.
Absolutely recommended apartment in Caminha, very nice spot in the city center, few steps from the main square, two separated bedrooms with two bathrooms, nice kitchen and living room and wine prepared by the owner. Excellent.
Lawrence was a great host who directed us to a great place for a vegetarian meal (not easy in Portugal). We really enjoyed it and the beautiful town. His place also had a washer and dryer that was well appreciated.
The hotel was great great value when I went, fab shower, nice size room, clean, free parking, and an excellent restaurant downstairs, value for money was a 10! Stop by it was very good.
Friendly, helpful staff. Good location in Caminha. Decent breakfast, offer some extras like yoga. Arranged for water taxi across Mino River to Spain as ferry was not operating.
Hotel central to the town, some nice design flair, but top floor had a definite odour. Good breakfast and pretty decent evening restaurant. Bed cured my back from Porto hotel.
We were offered a pilgrim meal and a massage!
There was also a washer and drier available.
We were picked up in the morning to get the boat taxi to Spain.
