Beauvais is a small town located 80 km north of Paris, in the French region of Picardy. Though its ancient origins and quaint atmosphere, the city has only recently become popular due to its airport. The city was inhabited by Gallic tribes, and it was known as Caesaromagus by the Romans. After being destroyed by barbarian attacks, it became the capital of the Belgic tribe of the Bellovaci, and started to being known as Bellovacus. St Peter’s Cathedral and the National Tapestry Gallery are a must. The 16th-century Episcopal Palace was partly built using ancient Gallic-Roman fortifications. Canada Lake is outside the centre, and offers natural surroundings and water sports facilities.

Beauvais is a lovely place the cathedral is stunning . It was very quiet but I don't know if that was because of the time we were there. I found some of the people very arrogant when visiting cafés was ignored a few times or just dismissed as we couldn't speak French. Although some were very nice it only takes a few to give a bad example. We had a lovely meal at le Touco restaurant and the staff were really helpful. I stayed overnight in beauvais en route to the airport so had a morning to spend there. It's a lovely little town with some medieval streets, but the main attraction was the cathedral which despite being unfinished for me was spectacular.

We stayed one night in Beauvais and could have stayed longer. In the 1500’s the cathedral was the tallest structure in the world and is still impressive. Next door, the Museum Oise in the old Bishop’s Palace is free and worth a visit.MalcolmAustralia - 2.0Scored 2.0

Great place with lots of lovely restaurants around the square. We were lucky enough to be there for the firework display the night before Bastille Day. Airport is to avoid at all costs. It's a trap if going somewhere else without having to go to Paris to change bus/train. If decided to stay in Beauvais, last bus to Beauvais from airport is 20.20. The town is nice, great cathedral, nice bistros.sylviaBulgaria

There was only a vending machine with crisps and soft drinks at the hotel, but there was a Mc Donalds across the road, which was open until 0:30. If we were earlier there is also a nice looking grill restaurant across the road. The room was clean and comfortable. Not too big but we only wanted a bed for the night. That hotel seemed to be the only good one available, so it was a logical choice. I liked the hotel in general - looks modern and well designed, rooms are nice and quite spacious for what you usually get for 3 people. Breakfast was decent too. Staff is really nice and polite. Not everyone knows English well, but Beauvais is not the biggest city, so I assume there are mostly local tourists anyway. Will definitely stay here again.

This hotel was ideal for us due to being close to Paris Beauvais Airport. It was nice and quiet and the family room we had, was amazing! An upstairs to the kids bed with a small door to protect them from falling. They loved it. I booked the same day and requested a cot. They replied promptly saying it was fine. When we got there, the cot was in the room ready for us.

We were there for one night before leaving for the airport the next day, we stayed right before Xmas holidays so we were able to see the "marché de Noël" right next block. The apartment is located right next to shops, groceries and bakeries, everything is easily accessible and the bus to get to the airport is super close as well. The apartment is lovely, spacious and cozy with everything you need for a short stay.
