The old town of Gallipoli is quite dirty around the edges and, for me, not particularly appealing. Spending time in the modern part of town is much more representative of Italian culture and family life.
The beaches to the south are really great, particularly in mid-May when they are not crowded and the sea is clear and fresh.

Nice compact town with lots of history and great sea views.
Nice compact town with lots of history and great sea views. Working harbour with a variety of boats and yachts in moorings.
Has been taken over a bit too much by continuous seaside souvenir shops making it a bit tacky in places. Plenty of decent restaurants with an abundance of seafood.

A lively and picturesque old town with an excellent offer.
A lively and picturesque old town with an excellent offer. The pulse of the city can only be felt if you stay in the old town on the island. You can be prepared for remote parking, impossible staircases in buildings... but everything you need on vacation is within walking distance.

We liked town and surrounding.
We liked town and surrounding. Beautiful fish restaurants everywhere. Since we rented the car had the options to explore the other towns nearby. Galippoli was our base and from then we visited historical small town Nardo. The very good option to start your trip in Apulia😊

Gallipoli is a fantastic small town. the old town is separated from the other part of the town by a bridge .Located on top of a rock the old town with the small castle make a very picturesque place where to take pictures from any corners. surrounded by turquoise colour water. In October the water's temperature is still warm for you to enjoy as well as to get a suntan. Lots of restaurants one better than another , offering fantastic panoramic view when sitting outside . The best way to get around gallipoli is on foot , cycling or a moped . In my opinion the best time to visit Gallipoli and surrounding is September ,october ,June and July . particularly good is October ,still warm ,good weather but very peaceful .
We only stayed in Gallipoli for one night, but it was very pleasant! This palazzo was in a great location, and our room was very spacious — we almost wished we stayed for longer because of the lovely private courtyard off the bedroom! The hosts were very kind and even allowed us to keep our luggage at their property after checkout so we could go out for lunch before catching a later train. It's very close to the sea and the vibrant, colorful center — but you can also find some wonderful side streets with a calmer vibe :)
This property was full of beautiful surprises… so considerately refurbished to retain original pieces of the structure. Ornate! Very comfortable, plenty of space and lovely touches. Mattia was a superstar!! About 45 minutes outside of Gallipoli we got a flat tyre.. I asked Mattia if he knew anyone close to
where we were, sent him our location and within minutes we had a tyre repair van turn up, in under an hour we were back on the road! Mattia certainly added value to our stay and we can highly recommend you stay here.
Very very clean big room with a very warm and nice host lady. Everyday cleaning. Baia verde beaches are 5mins by car and also there are also beaches 5mins walk from the hotel.
The b&b is close to Gallipoli downtown (25-30min walk /5 mins by car) and in the area we always fund free parking. This is a big plus because in old town/center of Gallipoli could be very hard to park. We are happy we did not have any stres to find parking, thing that can be annoyng especially when is very hot.
Nice typical italian breakfast.
Truly fantastic experience. Mario welcomed us with coffees, parked our car, and showed us to our beautiful room. So helpful on restaurant recommendations and local sightseeing. Location perfect with 5 minute walk to a beach and the historic centre . Delicious breakfast in a lovely little courtyard. Would love to stay here again . Better than any 5 star hotel. Don't hesitate to book this accommodation if there are rooms available. Absolutely 10 out 10 and more.Thank you so much for everything Mario.
If Gallipoli is the pearl of Salento, then Palazzo Presta is the pearl of Gallipoli. A stay in this accommodation is a wonderful experience from beginning to end. You can immediately see that clever minds have thought about every detail. Art and aesthetics mixed with travel relics, let the guest participate in a magical world. All the staff are exceptionally friendly, helpful and responsive to every request. The bar and food are of the highest quality. We highly recommend everyone to visit this hotel.
The place is brand new, spotless clean. There's complimentary coffee vending machine in the hallway and they give you croissants several times a day. Angelo was amazing host - waited for us for late arrival, gave us his parking spot in front of the building, provided recommendations for Gallipoli. Room is a good size equipped with good AC. Location is good - half a block off the main street with shops which leads you into the old town. Totally recommend this place.
I would stay here again without hesitation. Best room of my 2 weeks in Italy! The room was very clean, well appointed, modern but with old world charm like exposed brick. The ocean view from both bedrooms was gorgeous and unobstructed. The windows are soundproof so even though it was on a busy street there was no noise. It was an easy walk to everything. Wonderful breakfast on the rooftop terrace with amazing views.
Nice hotel near Baia Verde beach and with easy access to Gallipoli and motorway to visit Leuca and the south of Puglia. Correct breakfast and according to a`3-star hotel. Restaurant was nice for dinner and price according to the general prices in force in the area. Quiet residential area. Free parking easy on the street.
Fantastic villa surrounded by trees in a quiet neighborhood at a few minutes from Gallipoli. Very clean rooms and nice swimming pool accessible also at night. Great breakfast carefully prepared by the owners in which you can taste local products. We will definitely come back in our next trip in Puglia.
We had the most amazing stay with Giorgio, and it was definitely our favourite of all our travels around Puglia.
We truly cannot recommend enough! From the get-go they are so lovely and provide great recommendations, the location is perfect and walkable to everything.
-Eco resort with recycling everywhere.
-Private beach. Beach was nice and we didn’t have to pay the ridiculous cost of hiring sunbeds on public beaches in Italy.
-Room had a lovely sea view.
-On-site pizza restaurant was very nice.
-Family and pet friendly
Maruxa and Ruggero are wonderful people and we had great time in Gallipoli. The room was super clean, with a fantastic AC that kept the humidity and the heat away, also perfect location and luxurious breakfast. This was the best place we stayed in Puglia.
The hotel is absolutely lovely, well kept and decorated. The breakfast and rooftop areas take the prize for outstanding view in Gallipoli. Staff were lovely, breakfast very food and ample, and the location couldn’t be better. Highly recommend!
Room was gorgeous, Staff were lovely and everything was PERFECT! We will never stay at another hotel in Gallipoli!
We loved absolutely everything about this place, and also talk about a central location.
The staff at checkin at the ?XIHotel were really helpful. As we gad bikes they were very obliging and allowed us to leave them in the courtyard until earl evening the day we checked out
Perfect location, 5minutes away from the beach and 10minutes from Gallipoli historic center. The staff is super friendly, they really make you feel at home!
