We LOVED EVERYTHING about this accommodation. Located inside the walls of the medieval town of Barga, Barga-Gallicano is easily accessible from Pisa by train and then a short taxi ride to Barga itself (not walkable). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it was AMAZING and we definitely plan to return! Upon arrival, we were greeted by the owners Cathy and Walter, their hospitality was beyond our expectations along with the room that we stayed in for 2 nights. Personally, I don't feel there is a better place to stay in Barga.

The hotel has a very beautiful setting. The space was clean and cool, despite the heat. There is a full kitchen for guests to use and some basic supplies for breakfast, including delicious home made jams. The host is extremely kind and helpful, we really enjoyed chatting to her in the kitchen.

The most favourite place that I have visited in all the world and I would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to visit Tuscanyt. Barga Veccia ,has a stunning Cathedral, an Opera house, many fabulous restuarants and throughout the town there are many art galleries and individual shops to explore. There is also a swimming pool open during the summer months. Do not miss going to Casa de Vino for wine tasting and picnic. It is also easy to travel from there to Lucca, Viaregio Castelnouvo and you can even visit Florence from here for the day.
Bite the bullet and go there you will not regret it, enjoy.

The town was beautiful and nature is wonderful.
The town was beautiful and nature is wonderful. We would love to come back. We came on a Monday and several restaurants were closed because it was in the beginning of October. It will be nice to be in the town, when all places are open.

Barga is a beautiful old town with some stunning scenery. There are plenty of bars and restaurants and a market once a week - recommended.
If travelling by train, allow plenty of extra time in case of line changes - the cost of train travel is low but remember to validate your ticket on the station platform before boarding.
Barga is a fabulous Tuscan location.

The historic village has meandering lanes and alleys.
The historic village has meandering lanes and alleys. They can be quite steep, so wear flat shoes with a good tread. From the hillside and the duomo you will enjoy amazing views of the mountains and the valley. The newer section of town outside the walls is also lovely and worth a visit.
Everything was perfect! The apartment is a peaceful little gem with a big terrace and a beautiful mountain view. The kitchen is well equipped and the bed is super comfortable. The location is very convenient, Barga city centre can be easily reached with a 5 minutes walk and it's a good base to reach many trails and attractions in Garfagnana. The hosts, Mairi and Fabio, are incredibly nice and gave us recommendations for restaurants and things to do. We'll definitely go back when visiting Garfagnana again!
Paul’s house was a lovely, warm haven in Barga old town. Besides being fully stocked for a week long stay, Paul had some welcome beverages and fruit waiting for us, which was so appreciated.
The bed was so comfortable and there was no skimping on the quality of the sheets and towels.
Paul was a wonderful, responsive host and we will certainly stay there again when next we are in Barga.
The name literally means In the Sky…of Barga…and the location lived up to its name. It is located just below the Duomo, the highest point in this enchanting medieval town. From the room and its nice sized balcony, the rooftops are just below, offering incomparable vistas of Barga and the Serchio River valley. Great bed. Nice bathroom. But it’s the views that are incomparable.
Great location and a lovely welcome from the owner, Cathy. We were unable to reach the hotel for the first night of our stay due to train strikes and Cathy was very sensible and understanding of our situation. Room is very well equipped and very comfortable.
A selection of drinks and snacks are provided in the room and are included in the price.
Very Stylish place!
The hotel and room were wonderful - it is the artist's former house and is a beautiful old house with several rooms. Ours was huge with a fridge coffee maker and silver ware to make it easy to have snacks and breakfast in the room. The location is perfect for exploring Barga. It was spotless and we loved exploring the galleries filled with the artist Cordati's works.
The beautiful farmhouse near Barga was stunning. It was very peaceful, the room was was traditional and comfortable. The couple that own the structure are lovely people, they were very helpful when we had an issue with our rental car, they provided a lovely breakfast and made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be back again!

Great location. Good sized rooms. Very friendly and lovely staff. Loved the Art Deco accomodation. Very filling breakfast and having access to eating on the terrace was a bonus. The pool was extremely appreciated on the very hot days. I would return to this property if I came back to Barga.
I liked the spacious apartment very much. Luciana came to Barga and guided me to the hotel, which was very kind of her!
I had a very pleasant stay at nicely decorated hotel. The kitchenette was very handy and useful. The surrounding scenery is spectacular.
Centrally located in the old town of Barga. Clean, well thought out and equipped apartment with space to relax. I haven’t slept so well last in a long time. Close to some great places to eat and drink which have all the charm of Italy at its best.
It was our first ever visit to Barga and our stay was perfect. The history and art displayed around the hotel was gorgeous to see!
Fantastic views from our room of the town, the facilities were great. I would highly recommend staying here.
The hostel is well situated in the private area on the top of a hill from where you can enjoy the view over Barga. But it is not 2 km but rather some 6 km from Barga, so don’t be disappointed if you need to drive a big longer.
lovely old characterful hotel , close to the old city of Barga .
Beatrice was a wonderful friendly host with lots of info and advice about the area… Nadia laid on a fantastic breakfast spread.
Cathy was a great host. Full of info and local knowledge. Room was spectacular. A true first class experience. I would advise anyone visiting Barga to stay here.
