Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaThere was a contactless check-in, and we had to download the line app in order to check-in. Also, we had to pay cash, and there was no one there to make change, so we had to pay more than the posted price.
Location was great, close to City parking lot, and right next to stairs to take you up to the beginning of the old street.

United States of AmericaBooking lists this property as taking credit cards, but they are only to hold reservation, payment needs to be bank transfer or cash. This was unclear on the booking app, and very confusing for me initially, but fortunately the staff at the inn worked it out for me beautifully. A+ on the hotel staff here.
The most comfortable bed I've had yet, and the nicest bathroom and shower as well. Thoughtful touches like free coffee and hot/cold water, nice common areas, great ac and hot water pressure. Absolutely great staff available by line, they are remote. You will need internet to get in to the building. You need line app if you don't have it. Location is minutes to everything you want to do in Jiufen, and bus close by too. Easy to find. Though the town is almost all steps, this particular inn doesn't require any at it's by the road (but not loud). Photos are accurate.

BelgiumThe check in process was quite tedious for travellers from outside of Taiwan as we had to download the line app and it was lucky we had Taiwanese sim cards to do this. The no person at the check in situation is a little alarming - it did all work fine but at first we were very confused. Cameras everywhere - feels like you are observed all the time. We will now always stay where we see there is an actual person at the check in.
Nice showers, good location, nice view from the terrace. They let us leave our bags for the day which was very nice of them.

MalaysiaThe rooms are small especially double room with shared toilet, no extra space for big luggage and walking. Personally, the remote and self check in was inconvenient for us.

United States of AmericaBe sure to read the email received after booking (If you can't read Chinese this may be a challenge). That is where you find out you have to download an app in order to gain access to the property and communicate with the manager (who operates remotely). As the cameras and video screens at the door did not seem to be working it took quite awhile to even gain access to the reception area, and it was all rather confusing. Once inside, the manager (who was also watching us on video) texted that he wanted to see us change our shoes and that we should film a video of putting cash in a safe and send it to him as proof of payment, apparently because he preferred not to accept the credit card. I think he indicated to booking.com that the card information was incorrect (which it was not) as I got a message and re-entered it on the website. He did later charge the card successfully, but I still got another message from booking.com that my reservation was canceled (after I stayed there) because of an invalid card. All in all I felt the experience was creepy and weird. Check in aside, two other things stand out: First although the room is perfectly nice, the door has gaps around it so you hear everything that everyone says in the hall and kitchen area. Second, they provide each person only a small hand towel--fine if that's all you need, but not fine for a very large person, or someone who wants to dry their hair, etc. It seems counter to the eco mission to run a hair dryer for an hour... This is the worst experience I have had with a place on booking.com
The room was comfortable and everything worked as it should. There were lights and plugs on both sides of the bed. Wifi worked well and it was possible to control the room temperature. There was a communal kitchen area with hot water and tea/coffee available. I especially liked the balcony with the sunset view over the water. While I like the idea of an eco hotel operated remotely, to me this was not a successful example of that concept--neither the eco part nor the remote part.

MalaysiaLike that everything is self check in and all the facilities are easy to be used. Only thing is need to download Line to contact with the owner. Other than that everything is nice and cosy. My wife and I loved it because it is cosy and affordable. Also with just a few flight of stairs we reached Jiufen Old Street. The bathroom and rooms were spotless.

first of all the location was amazing. It is super close to Taipei main station and other connections. The rooms were big enough and comfortable. no noises or anything bothering, even tho you are right in the center with this. Moreover the staff was the best I have ever encountered. I lost my suitcase and they provided me assistance through the entire process of retrieving the suitcase. For the money this is an absolute gem
