Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyAs many before have written: the stairs are challenging, but hey, the house is from the 17th century, so what do you expect? Of course you hear some noise when you are in the middle of the Old Town, I slept well all the same. Only point of complaint: the bathroom door was somewhat difficult to close.
Very charming hotel in exceptionally good location. Within walking distance you can reach many points of interest like royal castle, heart of Gamla Stan, Riddarholmen, shopping areas, for all the rest you have an underground stop within 200 m. Very friendly staff - my friend has a gluten allergy, so for the next morning the nice lady from breakfast supplied her with gluten free bread and Muesli. The room was cozy and the beds very comfy. Bathroom: the shower being only secured with a curtain, I was afraid all would be completely wet after showering, but it worked out fine. All in all: no complaints.

SwedenThe hotel was unmanned for my stay, which happened to be from noon to morning. Breakfast was not until 8, which was a little late for me.
Quaint and quirky ancient building, very charming and memorable. Climbing old stairs was required, so perhaps not for everyone.

LithuaniaNot exactly a minus, but breakfast could use a slight more variety as it's exactly the same every morning. Nonetheless, it was in fact traditional swedish breakfast as far as i'm aware and everything was delicious so we weren't disappointed or something.
Location is great: in the heart of Gamla Stan, metro stop is very near however you can easily walk everywhere as well. Room quite small, but super cosy, scandi style, minimalistic. Staff was lovely, very friendly and accomodating. Bonus was to be awoken every morning by the smell of freshly baked croissants! :)

United States of AmericaI didn’t love how cramped the bathroom was, but not the end of the world. You could definitely hear everything going on outside, but they provided ear plugs. I only stayed one night, I think if I had stayed longer these things may have bothered me.
The property was the perfect location, very close to the train station, all the sites, and shops. The staff was really nice and welcoming, let me into my room to change since I was coming off a red eye even though the room wasn’t fully cleaned yet. They also took my luggage to my room

PolandAs a hotel, Sven Vintappare suffers from a number of issues. One can probably live with it, but please replace beds and other pieces of furniture. I understand those are very basic by design (no fancy furniture in 17th century, got it), but mine were clearly beyond repair. And c’mon, remove this ugly TV, it just ruins the atmosphere. Also, the hotel is only staffed in the mornings which I find too opportunistic — at this price point, one may reasonably expect a 24/7 receptionist.
Sven Vintappare is rather not a hotel but an experience. Perfectly located in Gamla Stan, in a house built in 1607, this is one-of-a-kind place where one can truly feel as a medieval Swede. Definitely worthy of a one-night stay.

United States of AmericaIt does have some issues you would expect from such an old building - squeaky wood floors that aren’t level, some outside nose, the stairs
Very charming old property with a delicious breakfast and lovely breakfast room. Yes, the stairs are steep. If you have mobility issues or are arriving with tons of luggage this may not be the place for you. But for everyone else, it’s a great experience and a comfortable room in a super convenient location. Short walk to anything in Gamla Stan, and not a bad walk to neighboring islands as well. Very easy access to the metro.

United States of AmericaGiven that the building dates back to 1607 it would be hard to find fault. No elevators in those days, we expected the spiral stairs. The bathroom was clean and updated but tight but the bedroom was large and bright. Breakfast was continental... there could have been more fruit.
The location was ideal. Shops, restaurants, the T, ferries, museums all minutes from the door of the hotel. The Hostess was delightful and ready to answer any questions and book reservations.

United States of AmericaOne thing I wish I had known was that it is in a street that cars can't get to, so it was hard dragging my luggage through the freshly fallen snow by myself. Also the hotel is narrow and tall, so the stairs are very steep. I didn't mind at all, but I am just adding this, it is not for anyone with a physical disability.
This is a really cute hotel with a spacious room. You can choose your own level of heat, which is not something I found in other hotels in Stockholm. The staff is incredibly nice, and it has a bed and breakfast vibe, so if you want a place that has reception 24/7 you should look elsewhere. It has a really romantic atmosphere, the candle lighting was really cute.

SwitzerlandOnly thing that could be better is that you hear every movement from the guests above you. But with such an old house, it is unavoidable.
Wonderful hotel at excellent location. It was like a fairytale to stay there. Good breakfast, especially given that the hotel only has 7 rooms and therefore a limited number of guests.

PortugalThe less positive side of the stay has to do with the garbage collection, which takes place at 6 am and does not respect anyone who wants to rest; those responsible for the service make a lot of unnecessary noise...
The atmosphere sends you right back to the 17th century! What a great experience. This small hotel, right in the center of Stockholm's old town, is perfect if you want to walk around and close enough to the central station, what gives you the right mobility even for business trips. Staff is very gentle and breakfast, being very frugal, is enough for your needs.

New ZealandThe best hotel I’ve ever stayed in! It’s a 400-year-old house just off the wonderful walking streets of the old city. The staff are friendly and the breakfasts are superb. You will need to be agile to climb the stairs and the walls lean at funny angles - but this just adds to the charm! The rooms are warm and inviting and the beds are comfortable. The adjacent lanes are packed with wonderful restaurants. The hotel is only 10 minutes walk from central station (or 4 minutes from the metro). I will definitely return!

The location of being in Gamla Stan (Old Town) and being in an historic building. I loved the furnishings and that the hotel was refurbished and not renovated. The charm and history live on.

AustriaThe location in Gamla Stan (Old Town) is perfect. So many wonderful things to discover within a very short walk. The house, being over 400 years old, has a charm no modern hotel can match. Indeed the steep winding stairway is not for everyone (it is very narrow and very steep), but it adds a great quality to the hotel. The room was quite large and the somewhat uneven floor gave a really fun aspect to staying. Indeed... it is really a building over 400 years old. Every little detail is done with the greatest of care. It is obvious there has been a lot of thought put into this hotel. The staff was excellent and ever so helpful. Breakfast was excellent and the fact you can get little snacks of pastries, cookies and coffee really when you wanted made it even better than expected. Our flight was leaving late in the evening, but we were able to leave our luggage with no problem making the final day relaxing and easy. If it were possible to rate it higher than 5 stars I would.
