How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Making a reservation I stressed that it is critical for me to have a parking slot. There was an information that booking the place is not necessary. When I arrived in the evening it was impossible to park a car without a risk of having it destroyed. I mentioned it to the receptionist asking for an advice but she informed me that hotel does not guarantee a parking slot. I said that there is a difference between information that the reservation is not required and information that there is no guarantee. Unfortunatelly the receptionist was rather unpolite. She offered me money back but at the same time requested to leave the parking. Next day when I saw her I asked her if it was her who "supported" me the previous evening and what is her name. She informed me that it is not her duty to answer my questions. Interesting as she is the receptionist ;-) I have to stress that all other staff members were very friendly, helpful, customer oriented and I may only compliment them. Including another receptionists.
I generally liked everything. The hotel has a very good location and it is very easy to reach main attractions or a public transportation. The whole staff (except one receptionist) was very friendly, helpful and customer-oriented.

A bit old-fashioned.
Good price-quality ratio, close to the old city, clean and tidy in the rooms, warm welcome from the desk.

Bit noisy, if you after good night sleep you might find it is not soundproof enough.
We stayed for few nights, hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment, but you can't complain it is just three starts after all. Room and bathroom are clean, towels, shampoo and shower gel provided on daily basis. Good ample of parking spaces in reasonable price. Very nice and helpful reception staff.

Excellent location in the heart of Gdansk. Friendly staff. A nice benefit is private parking and entertainment in the lobby. A big benefit for lazy people is the restaurant in the hotel. Breakfast is good but might be better.

Every day have the same breakfast menu. Expecting a vegetarian menu for breakfast.
children and family-friendly environment. The staff was very helpful - Reception person, breakfast team and cleaning person. At the night time, the AC is not working in my room. So the reception person immediately helped us to shift into another room and understand family comfort. Thanks a lot to Blonde reception man. The reception staff helped us to understand the map and directions to reach centrum/ tourist location. Morning warm breakfast is good. Crosaint and cake are fantastic. overall we enjoyed the stay. my family likes it Novotel hotel stay.

The pictures on booking.com are a bit too nice. Reality is more down to earth. Breakfast was 70 PLN; we thought it was too much.

Small personal thing would have been nice to have use of a toaster during breakfast . On that point had every flavour of tea bag you could think of, but no English Breakfast on second day ?

Outside garden was excluded from use due to some work , however we were not informed about it before we came . (We revisited Novotel because before we enjoyed staying in the garden/ outside restaurant in the evening)

The toilet seat in our room was old and cracked and the drainage in the shower wasnt working well, this could be improved
The location is very good, a walking distance from the river and old town. Breakfast had many options and nice friendly facilities for kids to be kept entertained.Clean as well
