Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Czech RepublicSome rooms facing the street get unbearable noise from the tram traffic. At least to some like us. That said the staff was very helpful and gave us a different room.
Convenient location.

SerbiaBreakfast missing variety. I came 30 min before closing and managed to get last croissant, after that there was no refilling, even there was still guests coming.
I see comments about small rooms, but every room has description and size of it, so everyone knows this in advance. I can't consider that as negative thing. Location is good, very close to central station and breakfast was nice. Just missing variety.

GermanyProperty is not hygienic. Toilet is not cleaned, they just put a blue liquid and didn’t brushed and cleaned it. Stains are visible on the toilet just like vommit stains. I even saw molds in the sink surface. The lighting of the room is very weak, the room is dark eventhough you turn all the lights on. breakfast is good but utensils are not clean as expected, no meat products like salami. Utensils looks like old and with white stain or kalk looks like didn’t washed well. Breakfast area is very small that can only accommodate almost 20 people. You have to wait until someone finished their breakfast. The stairs is very long and crazy.
Th property is accessible you can just walk around the city. Near tram, restaurants and river. The room is very big for the two of us.

LatviaAll the above mentioned except the traditional decor in all rooms and spaces, a special aura and very welcoming staff 🙂
This is an experience rather than a comfort hotel 🙂. In fact, it is the most uncomfortable hotel I have ever stayed at. Steep stairs with turns where is it is very difficult to ascend or descend. Extremely narrow room that sooner can be called a cabin. Many useless shelves that only make space narrower. Narrow and uncomfortable shower. Very narrow breakfast room with offer of continental breakfast. But - this place has a specific charm that makes all of the above-mentioned to be perceived as an adventure. Traditional decor in all rooms and spaces, a special aura and very welcoming staff makes a stay at this hotel a surprise. This is not a place for those who seek for comfort; those who want to discover new feelings - may found them here.

United KingdomNothing to not like. It was up to the expected standard.
The hotel was well placed for the Tram line, tourist destinations, there were a lot of restaurants not too far away from the hotel. We had a nice little room overlooking the canal. It was small but we knew that from other comments, the bed was comfy the room was clean. Lovely shower very hot and good pressure. The stairs were very steep but again we knew that from the description. The staff were friendly. Breakfast room was a little on the small side but we got in earlier so no problem for us. The breakfast was good quite a bit of choice. We would recommend this hotel.

United KingdomVery small room, definitely in need of refurbishment.
Continental breakfast only. Limited tables so not able to linger. Very long steep staircase to reception…37 steps. Staff very pleasant and helpful, especially Haseem. Decor very dated and shabby but clean enough. Good location for access to sites of interest. Good and reasonable cafe and restaurants nearby

United StatesWalking up the staircase. To be fair, when I booked the room it was acknowledged that the stairs and lack of elevator was a reason it tends to not book up, and why prices are cheaper than other options in the vicinity. But that didn't make it any easier. While I didn't mind it too much, it wouldn't be a hotel I could recommend for my parents if they wished to visit despite everything else being great.
We loved the location in relation to where everything around the city was located.

PortugalThe room is right next to the metro line and has bad sound proofing on the windows, so the tram can wake you up easily if you're not a heavy sleeper.
The decor is old looking, but in a cool way. The location is really good and the breakfast was great.

GermanyDue to the nature of the building, stairs are so steep, that you have to think about that twice if you have physical issues. The room, of course, the bathroom and the bed (it looks like 70x190cm?) were very narrow. All the building is old. My room looking to the back side of the building, which has no view actually.
The location was OK, you can easily get to the central station by tram. Although it was winter, the room was hot. (Don't forget to turn on the radiators, they're off by default)
