Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

United KingdomYou could tell the apartment had not been decorated in quite some time and would had expected more with charging £185 a night. Was clean but pictures were very outdated. The overhead train was very loud from about 0600 running frequently. No key to lock the back door.

AustraliaThe standard of cleanliness was quite low but I think this is not a reflection of the host, but actually a lack of understanding of the host of the cleaners who are employed. There was food in the microwave that had not been cleaned out and also under the carpet that had not been picked up and the shower had lots of soap scum and mould that had clearly not been cleaned properly for some time. The host though certainly gave the impression that if she was aware of all of this, she would have it fixed immediately.
Location was excellent and host was very helpful when we arrived very tired and without the details we needed to get into the apartment.

United KingdomNot enough towels for the number of guests and the ones available were dirty. The bedding was also stained. There was a rotten smell in the cupboards and constant smell of mould but I guess that’s what you get in an old house. There weren’t enough toiletries and bed linen for the sofa-beds in the livingroom. There was no hot water on our last day. There was constant noise and shaking from the tube underground but understandably that’s not the host’s fault, just pointing out.
Great area with lots of shops and bars. Property was quite spacious with lovely features but needs massive improvement! The host gave clear instructions on how to enter the property.

Alot of dust Check-in said between 14-15o’clock but didn’t recieve any information to get into the property until after 15o’clock and when we got there someone was still cleaning

United KingdomThis review relates to our trip from 19th-22nd August. The communication with the host was dreadful from start to finish. Very quick to send a message asking for £100 damage deposit after booking but then didn't respond to any further messages in the run up to our stay, including me asking what the arrangements would be for us accessing the property (the listing said we would be met by the host). I made it clear at the time of the booking that we would be arriving at 8pm and on the night of 19th August we turned up a few minutes beforehand. We duly waited - nobody arrived. I called the number on the listing -twice it rang out and the third time it was switched off. Voice messages left asking if anybody was coming- no reply. Text messages also sent - no reply. We were travelling with a 4 year old and a 12 year old and were all increasingly anxious that we would have nowhere to stay. My partner tried to contact the host via WhatsApp whilst I made enquiries in the property itself. After repeated knocking I was fortunate enough to find myself speaking with another resident who said he knew the host and would try to make contact with her for me. He also commented that it seemed to be a fairly regular thing that people could not get access to the property. In the meantime the host finally responded to my partner's WhatsApp only to inform us that the flat was double booked and we could not have it until the following night. The blame for both the double booking and the fact we could not access the building was laid squarely at the feet of booking.com. (As an aside we have absolutely no criticism of booking.com whatsoever. When we spoke to them and informed them that we may not have anywhere to stay that night due to the host failing to show up the chap on the phone was prepared to bend over backwards to resolve the situation for us and made it clear that there was no way we would be left without somewhere to sleep).
The location really is superb.

United KingdomThe house was disgusting. Dirty carpet, smelt of mould and damp. There were mini fruit flies which took ages to get rid of! Upon arrival the sinks were blocked and the Bath doesn’t drain any water, informed Hannah and was told someone would be around to fix, absolutely nothing was done no plumber arrived. So the entire weekend we bathed in a Bath with dirty water. In this heat you can understand e frustration. Most places offer you 2 toilet rolls, we were given 1, not even a full one at that. Also messaged this to the host, no response. The beanbags were popped so there were constant white balls on the floor when we sat on them. There was no hoover or broom to get rid of them. The dishwasher had an out of order sign on it, but actually when we opened it to have a look the previous guests had left their plates in it!! Absolutely smelt we had to buy candles from Sainsburys which is a 2 minute walk, to mask the smell, there were ants in the kitchen side which they were aware of as they had left anti ant systems around the house and even on the counterside. Holes in the walls which had been taped over with masking tape. The toilet seat was broken. Many other reviews mentioned this so we thought it would be fixed as they are older reviews but no it is still broken!! We couldn’t get into the key lock box so had to wait over 2 hours for the keys. Alongside the ‘cleaners’ we’re not finished so we could not check in at 2 as expected. we had to wait an entire hour to be provided the main entrance door code. The front door was left open by the cleaner by accident so luckily we could walk in and just wait for her to return to get the keys out of the lockbox but we almost missed our dinner reservation as she took 2 hours to arrive. If you want a cheap place to stay that is in great proximity to Camden market, great. Otherwise the house is in desperate need of repair!

EgyptToo many flying insects everywhere in the flat. Bad smell in the flat starting from the entrance. The bath is very disgusting, and the tub was dirty. The sound of Metro (tube/underground train) runs right under the house every 5 minutes makes you feel of a minor earthquake which made the whole flat vibrate and we couldn’t sleep because of this. The furniture is very old and the flat needed renovation maybe 15 years ago. The area is not good for families with children. The owner didn’t put any image of the house from outside because it doesn’t look good and all images for the interior of the house are misleading because they were very long time ago. The level of the accommodation is below the standard of booking.com and it should be removed from booking.com.
