The lighting in the bar / lounge area needs addressing especially around the large fireplace. Although we don’t like bright lighting there is a happy medium and it was just too dark.

Loved the secret garden and the wedding breakfast was very good. The setting was perfect with the woodland walk and waterfall nearby. Beautiful old building yet with modern facilities.

The approach to hotel doesn’t make a good first impression, with derelict buildings to the left of the driveway, this could do with screening off. The outside seating area could have been a little more inviting, but there is work going on in the garden so maybe this will be addressed before the summer. A member of the Bar staff with long hair that he continually pushed back while preparing drinks was off putting, I feel he should have been made to tie this back when on duty. The lighting in the bar area could be improved it’s too dark and needs brighter lamps.

The property is beautiful, with an excellent location, very easy access to the Metro, 10 minutes from Newcastle centre, Lovely walks through the Dene. The food was lovely and the set Dinner menu was very good value for money.

My son got married at the hotel and I couldn't fault the staff or the venue. The venue is stunning, staff were so helpful, friendly and professional. Would thoroughly recommend it to others.

No gym, but they did have a joint venture with David Lloyd but it was off site. The free WIFI was very poor, did not connect well and was slow.

The Staff were exceptional!! Old School Customer Service, nothing was too much trouble. Their helpfulness felt genuine which is rare today. Lots of little things that have a large impact. The lounge was lovely to work in and they didn't make you feel you were taking up space. Breakfast looking out over the garden in a very light airy room. Food was on large plates so did not look a lot but was filling and hot, which is always a bonus at a hotel. Room we stayed in was beautiful, very clean and well designed, with lots of little touches. Will return and would recommend. Complements to the management team as what every they are doing, it flowing downwards in a positive way to their team.

Some damage to the bathroom door in room and a funky drain smell in the bathroom. Bed was a little creaky and the pillows were too hard for my liking

Breakfast was lovely but would have liked toast to come as standard with the cooked breakfast. Nice clean room with thoughtful touches such as the complimentary blondies, water and a note.

The room was a little smaller than I would have expected. The toilet was ridiculously low (like a childs height which was awkward, especially in the middle of the night. The bed was a little hard for my preference.

No hand wash in bathroom Shower could have been cleaner seal s all black need re sealing and bottom of shower not great Very noisy as a wedding on till late Sat night
