The down stairs bar was exceptionally noisy, music blasting out- it was difficult to hear ourselves - so much so we had to go and find somewhere else to eat ☹️☹️☹️☹️😱

Rooms were clean comfortable beds, quality bedding, well proportioned

Staff were very polite and professional. On check-in we were given a clear and concise explanation about safety etc. The hotel and bar/restaurant have a good atmosphere. The accommodation is clean and comfortable with very good food.

There was nothing that I did not enjoy.

Location was perfect for our weekend in Portsmouth. Easy check in, bedrooms immaculate and we were able to enjoy a few drinks after our long journey. Family came to join us and we enjoyed a lovely meal together in the Red Lion Restaurant. Lovely sleep and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast.

The steak meal was probably the only meal we couldn't enjoy as the steak was really tough. And it's a shame that the dirty laundry is bagged and stored in an area we had to pass to get to our room, giving that area an unpleasant smell. As soon as we entered our passageway, the scent was instantly clean.

The breakfasts were lovely. The hotel has a great atmosphere for families as well.

It would be nice to be able to check in a little earlier. Someone set off the fire alarm in the middle of the night.

The location is perfect for us visiting family in the area. It is only a short 5 minute drive from the Red Lion. We liked the bathroom upgrades since our last stay.

Limited selection of vegetarian options on the menu. Lack of a bar fridge. Toilet and basin too close together and a toilet seat that slewed sideways as a result.

The full English breakfast (for the non-vegetarian). The efficient service for a table of 18 with a minimum of fuss. A free 70th birthday cake, even though it was for an 80-year-old....which prompted an 85-years reprise several days later, all in good humour. Easy access to shops (not just Tesco, but a bewildering array of tattoo parlours, nail bars, barber shops, off-licences and bingo halls), as well as public transport.

However, it is worth mentioning that the bedroom could benefit from some redecoration, as noticed paint flaking off the walls. As for the dining experience, the pub offered typical fare, but unfortunately, the service from the kitchen was quite slow. It is possible that this delay was a result of miscommunication between the front of house staff and the kitchen as knocking on a door in a pub is not very productive.

Upon arrival, I was greeted with an exceptionally warm and friendly welcome, which immediately set a positive tone for the stay. Although the room was slightly overpriced, we decided to book it primarily because of its convenient location.

Very comfortable room, no wardrobe but fine for a 3-night stay. Convenient location, near bus stops for routes to Portsmouth, Southsea & Chichester. Handy for shops & library. Wonderful breakfasts, 'hearty Irish' more than adequate. Friendly and helpful staff.

    Nothing.

Room was lovely and clean, shower spacious and water pressure good. Lots of tea, coffee, etc. Comfortable bed and I slept right through. I had a meal in the evening, which was nicely cooked, very tasty and good value. The small Irish breakfast was tasty, but by no means 'small' . Excellent value and kept me going all day. Thank you to all the lovely staff. The location was ideal for me to reach all the places I needed to in Portsmouth. I would stay again if in the area.

Unfortunately, the fire/exit door alarm was activated at 2am for about 45mins but the night manager did sort it out. Just was unfortunate

The pub atmosphere was fantastic Great dinner and breakfast You could not hear the noisy pub at all from your room. Very very quite Good location and free parking is a huge plus. Little bit of distance from main town but that was no big deal
