Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaWe really couldn't fault the hotel except that the meal service was a bit slow.
Steps away from the station, yet at the same time in the very heart of Bath, The Hotel Indigo was a real treat after criss-crossing the country, visiting universities. Elegant, yet not stuffy, with very friendly staff, we had an unexpectedly large room with an equally large bathroom, beautiful sheets and a delicious breakfast (and dinner!).

United KingdomWe had requested a twin room but it looked more like a double when we arrived as there was a bed spread across the two beds. We asked the concierge to split them out into twin beds which exposed some crumbs etc that had escaped the hoover. Barman was grumpy. We paid about £250 for the room for one night so on that basis really felt that everything should have been top notch.
Really fun decor. Fantastic location.

United StatesThe layout of the hotel is a little confusing because it's 12 townhouses, not contiguous, which were made into a hotel. It's an adventure finding a new way to your room every day -- it was actually a lot of fun, in fact a good memory exercise.
Breakfast was excellent, lots of variety on the menu or buffet at "The Elder" restaurant. We are a wonderful evening meal at The Elder with meat and other items sourced from the hotel's land holdings near Bath. The location is fantastic, close to the Bath Abbey, The Baths, Prior Park and also a short walk to the train and bus station. It could not be a better location. The staff could not have been more helpful, more than once when we asked a question, a staff member actually walked with us to where we were trying to go in the hotel.

Breakfast was delicious! Complimentary mini bar in our room, was a lovely touch......although, we only used the tea, coffee and biscuits! Many hotels of this standard would charge for the contents of the mini bar.

MalaysiaAll good.
Breakfast was fantastic. And dinner was good too. And the location is very central and easy to find yet not noisy. And very accommodative to extend my check out time to nearer my departure coach time. I had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay for my first time as a solo senior traveller. Thanks so much.

SwedenMaybe because the room was small the ventilation wasn't so great, after the showers the air in the whole room stays damp for a long time, also there was something with a sewage, weird smells in the morning when waking up, or after returning to the room after some time you could tell something was smelling funny in the bathroom.
Very good location, beautiful interiors, very friendly and helpful staff, this hotel is in a historic building and we liked the modern twist on it done by the hotel chain. Breakfast was very good, good options and very nice service. Would stay here again if we travel to Bath again!

United KingdomWe were in room 633 and there was a sour smell in the bathroom. If you’re in the central house it can be a bit confusing finding your way round but a couple of times in and out and it’s fine.

United KingdomThe dust from renovations to the building. An unavoidable circumstance.
This is an ideally situated hotel for visiting Bath, quirky but comfortable. The staff were amazingly good and I observed, very competent with dealing with awkward guests. The food was excellent, dinner and breakfast. My only negative thing to say was something the hotel couldn’t really help and that was the dust in the Elder Restaurant caused by the ongoing reservations to the building.
