Some of the staff were very nice, but others were quite rude and impatient when we tried to talk with them.

The location was excellent, right next to Brockwell Park and not too far from the city. The beds were also very comfortable and there were lots of services provided.

Check in was confusing maybe cos we arrived in evening when venue was already open. We had to ask at the bar and wait to be taken upstairs, no direct access but OK once you have key and codes.

Comfy bunks with electric socket. They put your name on the beds. Lounge area. Handy for the music venue. Cheap.

Good party hostel for social stuff + good transport links

My dorm was on the top floor so I had more than 3 flights of stairs to get up + I would have preferred to have lockers in the room as there is enough space for 4 + it would prevent us guests having to leave our room so frequently... My bunk bed did not have wood steps so I had to climb the metal ladder frame which was hard on my feet; my bunk was very wobbly it was almost like jelly any small movement and it would shake + the mattress had springs so I slept on the duvet which was quite thick so the springs didn't affect my body as much. The beds don't have curtains or lamps + I noticed at night some people in their cars played music very loud as they drove passed so it was more noisy compared to other hostels which were also next to a main road. In the girls showers I didn't like that there was no hand dryers + most times no blue roll so after washing hands you had to go back to the dorm for a towel. I think it would be a good idea to have more than 1 hairdryer since so many of us were staying here as well. I knew that on weekends this venue play music to entertain customers but the party goes on until after 1am so if you need a place to stay due to work trips, you might not get a good rest here as you can really hear the booming base & public talking outside -songs they played sounded good most of the time. The main thing I really didn't like was there was no heating - I stayed here in summertime so I was never cold yet still would have preferred to dry my towel etc on the radiator in my dorm instead of relying on blowdrying them.

The room I stayed in was a 4 bed dorm for girls and it was more spacious than expected + my room looked down on the garden below. All doors had number combo lock and lockers were outside my bedroom. My dorm had a big shelf so each guest could leave their stuff + we had hooks on the wall for coats. I was allowed to go into the garden below where they had food trucks and I had a patty from the Jamaican shop, it tasted good and not too spicy. There is a Sainsbury shop across the road + nice kebab shop near the bus stop - I liked that they had no carpet and many windows + showers for girls were in a different area for boys too. The kitchen is massive & has a dining table I saw a large fridge & separate freezer for frozen food but unfortunately no air fryer in spite of this at least we had 2 microwaves. It takes approx 15mins walk to brixton tube station & lots of shops here for food & fashion + there are 4 bus stops that you can get to in 10mins incl night buses

Squeaky bunk bed & being on top, felt it was awkward as everytime someone moved it was rather noisy. No one sleeps. 2am lights still on, everyone chatting & coming & going throughout the night with music downstairs too…don’t plan to actually sleep. By time lights got turned off & people chilled out it was 3/4am and before you knew it sun was coming up and through the curtains relighting the room. But for the price & the location…I can live with it. Room stated no food to be kept in rooms…however everyone in my room had food or snacks all laying around. Not going to help with ‘pests’.

The location is brilliant, nice venue. Everyone I met & in my room seemed really nice. Quite chill. Kitchen, showers, balcony & common room free to use. Music downstairs was great from what I could hear & a pleasant vibe, can come and go as you please & little locker for any valuables supplied on check in.

The only downside to this hostel in my experience, was how loud it was at night. It is in London of course which is very busy, the road was loud through the night which made it difficult to sleep, but they do at least give you free ear buds! Also not the hostels fault but there was a long term resident in my hostel dorm, a polish chap, he kept farting throughout the night which was at first funny but when you are awoken by the thunderous caverns of this man's anal cavity on the hour every hour it soon became not so funny. Please help this man to have a better diet and lifestyle. God speed.

The hostel is in a beautiful building, well facilitated, very friendly staff, and a nice part of London. I used it for the night to see a gig in the O2 Academy which is just a 15/20 minute walk from here. Very convenient and the cheapest place to stay in London that I've ever found.

There should be washbasins available together with toilets, it gets very loud during the night because of the pub downstairs. It is quite pricey for what it is, too.

Friendly staff and guests, rather tidy rooms and clean sheets.

Check-in is a bit of a diversion of some sorts as the door is closed until pretty late in the day (people ARE present), but as long as you read what you're supposed to do, everything should be alright.

I was there to see the artist performing in the venue downstairs. All I had to do was walk out the door, walk around the corner and walk back into the venue. I can't think of many places with such an optimal combo.

It's cheap and cheerful. Good value for money.

The location was perfect; I was only staying for a night so I could attend a Blues dance class/live music event. The staff were very helpful. I liked that there were plenty of communal areas including a kitchen to cook your own meals. The Hootananny Hostel was closed to Brixton tube station, Electric Brixton and O2 Brixton. I would stay here again if I wanted to attend a gig.

We used the accommodation in January, so there were not many people. I can imagine that if the hostel is full, it can be tricky with privacy. Curtains would solve this, I think.

The whole building is nice, it has a very specific atmosphere with all the doors and the pub downstairs. Also, there’s a bus station like 20 meters from the property and the bus will take you to the center for 1.75£ so that’s great

Location is a bit far from the tube (though there's a bus station which is much nearer), it would be tiring if u carry a large luggages walking from the tube. Kitchen smelt a bit greasy. I stayed there 3 days but only 1st day have hot water in female showerroom. There's no lift and stairs are high and narrow so don't bring large luggages.

Staffs were nice. One receptionist helped me to carry my luggage (warning: no lifts here). One helped me using the microwave. Price is good. They provided breakfast as they mentioned (fresh milk, cereals, and toast was new during my stay). Room is comfy.

The rooms were ok, rather small and not very clean (there was trash under my bed from a previous traveller). Unfortunately, the beds weren't comfy at all, even in comparison to similar priced hostels in London. I had the lower bunk bed and couldn't even sit up in it (I'm average sized). In addition, there were no curtains on the beds.

The hostel was above a bar which had a large event when I came to check in at Friday night. The rooms, however, were comparatively quiet and I was not disturbed by the noise at all. The baths for man and women were separated which was nice. And one had access to a small locker.

The breakfast was disappointing, there was just brown bread and jam and peanut butter, no white bread, no eggs or any proper breakfast, and the breakfast was free for everyone anyway, you didn’t need to pay for it. the room was dusty and the bathrooms could have been cleaner

The location was very good and it was an affordable stay, it’s a good venue that also hosts its own events which is nice when travelling solo. It was nice to meet other people, the staff were friendly and I felt safe

I like the staff are nice and easy to deal with, and everything you need is there (kitchen, shower, laundry... ) and sure new people I'd met I like some of them too much.
