Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

I AM VERY SURE THEY FOUND IT AND SOLD IT, AS ITS A BULGARI RING AND WOULD SELL FOR 500£ ON THE BLACK MARKET, SO I ADVICE ANYONE STAYING THERE NOT TO FORGET ANYTHING, MAKE SURE YOU SEARCH EVERYWHERE BEFORE CHECKING OUT, SECONDLY THE HOT WATER WAS AN ISSUE, THEY USE AN OUTDATED BOILER AND THE HOT WATER WAS OFF AND ON, THOUGH THEY ALWAYS SENT A GUY TO COME SORT IT OUT WHENEVER WE NEEDED IT.

AngolaI have been a booking.com client for a while and this is the first time that I'm writing a review... complaining! Basically, prior to entering the accommodation on our arrival, I didn't know that I had to submit the copy of my passport, share my bank card details with someone I don'tknow, pay a deposit through the phone and fill in a registration form online before the address of the accommodation could be shared with me. The lady who I spoke to on the phone refused to give me the accommodation address so that the airport taxi could drop us off at or close to the door, at least. I had to wait somewhere on the streets with my family (three kids and an infant) for a few hours with a lot of luggage, before the booking was confirmed and we were allowed to enter the apartment, carrying our luggage from quite far away. Then, I didn't know that I was on the terrace (3rd floor), there is no lift, and the stairs are quite narrow, with no one to help. Just me, myself and I. That was quite an experience!
The apartment is clean and met our expections.

United KingdomIf I could give 0 I simply would based on this experience! I travel to London atleast once a month for a break away or to work and I have to say this has definitely put me off! Lesson learnt to make sure you read every single detail when booking with booking.com- this company is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with in my professional career. Myself and my partner decided to take a short stay in london with our 1 year old child and boy what a mistake using this company! From professionalism before the stay to the actual stay I am actually horrified to say the least! On booking.com there was no information about an upfront deposit of £450.00 and when contacting the company to make them aware that this was not possible and I didn’t have that money until we got to the property I was told “my boss won’t let you cancel and you won’t have your money back” so I was forced into financial difficulties even before we arrived in London. We arrived at the property at 2:30 on Monday 13th Feb (arrived early as we was told we were on the third floor with no lift and we had to carry 2 large suitcases and child and a pram) whilst entering the property I was taken back as there was no lights on at all so we had to use our phone torches to move around the property? No light switches were even working? Apparently in confirmation it states when booking that the apartment is on 3rd floor (yet to find this as this information is not on booking.com) our experience just grew from worse to worse whilst staying here- NO HOT WATER ( WE HAVE A 1 YEAR OLD STAYING WITH US ) had to ring twice for a “handyman” to come fix the boiler the boiler would work for about a hour then cuts off this was a major concern as we had a 1 year old child with us?- the apartment had a smashed back panel on the door which was a concern but everything was shrugged off in conversations!

Netherlands* Some important facilities in a poor state, e.g. unstable cot, mouldy washing machine giving clothes a terrible odour after washing cycle, not a particularly safe lock, a poor Wifi connection that only supports 1 device, just 1 towel per person. * The bathroom probably has a hidden leak and water comes out from between the vinyl tiles of the floor, making everything filthy. * The apartment we were given was on the second / third floor without a lift and super narrow staircases. We were under the impression that we had booked a ground floor apartment judging by the photos that we spent hours looking at, and we were told by the property managers that we didn’t pay enough attention to distinguish multiple apartments under the same listing. * There is no light at the entire staircase and it’s completely dark. Accessing the apartment with a child wasn’t safe for us. * We were surprised by the attitude of the property management representatives towards these shortcomings when we got in touch. They were aware that there was no light at the entire building’s staircase and they just let us self check-in knowing that we were a family with a toddler and would find ourselves in a dark building at night. * Communicating with the property over the weekend is challenging because they don’t work. So if one is faced with a question, they just have to wait till Monday.

United StatesUpon our arrival and for the duration of our stay we had no hot water and the heater leaked puddles all over our floor. There is also a smell within the apartment that reminds you of mold or water damage. I’m comfy beds and the apartment is not in top shape.

United Kingdomcheck-in was only until 10pm for the key collection, perhaps this can be pushed to a bit later as for work we normally arrive around that time or later in some cases :( but obviously you can enter or leave later once you are inside :)

The apartment was clean and nice inside and a very short walk from the station, we stayed in the 1bed apartment which is in the top floor but it was nice and quiet, the lady from the company also mentioned there is a 2bed in the ground floor which it works great as we travel often for work. The heating at first was hard to use ( as per a review i thought it was not working ) but they explained me how to do it and it was all fine.

Irelandno baby cot on arrival . had to ring to get it for the second night of my stay. baby had to sleep in the bed . boiler turned off and water wasn’t heating properly to have a warm shower. sofa bed was also not folding out had to get maintenance guy to help. i would prefer if there was a welcome message on arrival to at least show guests how to work the basics for their stay. it felt like we were completely left to our own devices
