Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainIt's just that the walls are thin you can hear the people from the other rooms though muffled voices and you have to move very quietly. Also, the use of the bathroom especially when it's fully booked and you don't know the ratio of how many male/female were staying. In the guys' bathroom, the shower knob is a bit tricky to use.
Excellent location and value for money. This place is perfect only for those who need basic travel accommodation. We truly appreciated the hot and cold water dispenser. The beds have comfy duvets.

TurkeyThe men's restroom was a bit small and it negatively affected the fact that your suitcases were left at the hotel for a fee after you checked out
Mr. Hasan, who works here, was very nice to us and the location of the house was really good. It was a comfortable hotel and so we left this hotel happily with our family.

I liked the accommodation for the price/quality ratio. Very clean, especially in the bathrooms. Everything is very spartan, but for undemanding travelers it is normal.

United KingdomSmall and dark, but value for money.
It’s tiny and dark, but as a budget single room it is good value. Very clean shared facilities and having access to a kitchen was great. Great location. Good communication with staff/managers. Excellent shower.

United StatesBe aware that this location is quite noisy. The advantage of being near everything close to the centre of the city is counterbalanced by the amount of street noise that exists all night long. Plenty of revelers at 2 am, street cleaning between 3-4 am and constant yelling and conversations as large groups move through the square. If not used to the inner city, may want to consider earplugs.
Location was great - near the palace, main plazas, and subway stations. Many things are within walking distance or a subway stop away. Dia grocery store is across the plaza from the hostel. It was also nice to have balcony views looking onto the square. Spacious room for the family, hot water in the shower. Facility well maintained and building felt secure. Access to full kitchen was nice and staff were friendly.

NorwayThe apartment is very close to a small square as well as a small tapas/restaurant, so it is a bit noisy at night, even at 1am. The shared bathroom is only one, so it takes awhile to get your turn. Cannot do late check-out.
The location is very close to Opera metro, they have elevator and you can do early check-in.

Canada- AC was not on because “it was not summer in Spain”. AC is only on in July - Aug so we had to leave our door open which meant it was really hard to sleep because it was really loud outside! - slight plumbing issue in women’s bathroom - drain was not draining - noisy!!!! at night and lack of soundproofing/insulation so we struggled to sleep in because people closed the door really loudly in the morning. - it’s a shared bathroom so you will have to wait for your turn to use it. we missed that in the listing.
- location was perfect and close to everything - bed was super comfortable

Italywhen I made the reservation it didn’t say it was a shared bathroom, so it was an unpleasant surprise when we got there i it was just one bathroom for a bunch of rooms, if it was specified clearly I wouldn’t have made the reservation.

UkraineFirst I booked the economy room without A/C but as it was +43 C that week, I asked to change for better room (with difference only EUR 10), so I had A/C, more space, etc. Economy room might be OK during cooler season, or if you are staying for one night - the price was the cheapest in Madrid when I booked few days earlier, but for longer stays I would recommend to book a standard room with A/C, more space (up to 3 people) and enjoy your working trip or holiday in full. I am not complaining .- Arta charges less than many similar properties, and the location was just superb!
Very central location in the centre of old Madrid (just few minutes to Plaza Major, and 15 minutes wal to El Rastro), supermarket 20 metrs (Dia) and 100 metres (Carrefour). Cheap eateries around, and if you need to have work meetings in the crntre, then you can walk, rather to use transportation. If something is the centre in Madrid, then this plade is. The rooms are comfortable (I would't opt for economy room without A/C but I got uprade for better room for some little extra payment). Very good WIFi. The host was available on WhatsApp 24/7, you can check in and out any time (you pay on booking.com and they send you detailed check-in instuctions, so you can also check in in the middle of the night). Very nice attitude. This is actually an old apartment converted to small hotel/hostel, but there are only 5 rooms with 2 shared bathrooms with showee, which were ckeaned every few hours + kitchen with free coffee, tea, large fridge and coffee-making facilities + microwave. Recommended on travellers on budget,

JapanTwo negative points. There is no sign at the entrance, there is wifi, and you have to be able to contact someone to get there. I went to someone else's room by mistake and the resident got mad at me. Not recommended for guests without a means of contact. There is no air conditioning in the room and it is hot. Had to release the door to let cool air in from the hallway. I can stay there again because I already remember the location, but it was stressful to have to make an international phone call because I didn't know where it was.
Location is perfect. Close to the metro and walking distance to the center. Well equipped, no problems.
