How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Late check in 18.30 pm. This mess up driving plans. the owner unjustly accused us of breaking the clothes rack and demanded compensation, which spoiled the whole impression and mood

We would have liked a TV in the room. The hot water ran out quickly and we all couldn’t use the shower. We did not receive the chek-in information until 6p.m.
We liked that the apartment was spacious, modern and had a kitchen with lots of different utensils. Excellent place for families. The location was right in the city centre.

Just a tip, there was an induction stove which is great, therefore a kitchen towel and dustpan to clean a small mess would be great :)
I loved it, everything was clean, minimalistic, It was a beautiful renovated apartment. Free parking. One minute to the centre, but it was quiet.

We enjoyed our stay, it was great! Nonetheless wifi had poor quality. 2 smaller suggestions also to the host: - we missed more racks for towels in the bathroom (if 4-5 persons, you'll miss the place to hang towels or clothes). - bedroom light would make stay even more cosy and comfortable ;)
Newly renovated, bright and clean, nice and peaceful place to stay with family or friends. Comfortable check-in and -out system (key box), air-conditioner gives opportunity to regulate room temperature which was great. Rooms on ground floor have separate entrance - it's very comfortable.

Excellent location in the heart of Kärdla, very close to supermarket and the harbour. The apartment sparkling clean and fully equipped with everything you need for short stay.

Spacious, very cosy and tastefully furnished apartment. Good coffee, comfortable couch and bed, fast wifi and basic facilities to cook or boil water: everything we needed for one night in Kärdla. As I didn't have internet access on the day of arrival, I didn't receive the instructions to let myself in, but this was solved with one quick phone call to the friendly host.

A bedside lamp would have been nice. The windows had no curtains and the light could not be blocked, sun shining into the room very early in the morning. The cow's hide on the floor (also seen in the photos) does not add anything to the room and contrasts the otherwise Scandinavian clean style.
The apartments are managed professionally and are recently renovated, although the house and the back yard show their age. AC worked, so we had a comfortable stay despite the heat wave. Clean and recently renovated in neutral and minimalistic way. A nice bathroom. The owner has responed to the reviews and provided a place to hang clothes. Excellent location, two blocks from the center, a few restaurants and a grocery store. Quiet neighborhood. Excellent value for money.

Reading lights above bed would be nice addition.
Very nice situation at the centrum of Kärdla. Just renovated very clean and interesting apartment. Beautiful "Princess bedroom". Very friendly and helpful host. Challenging stairchase when climbing into third floor.

This time we had some cleanliness issues - the carpet looked really dirty and the shower had not been cleaned. Again, there was not enough hot water.
The tower in our room was superb! The views were great to three sides. I love the house and its exentricity. The sofa bed is easy to set up and rather wide. The little kitchen nook has the necessities. As a nice suprise, we found a TV in our room so we could still watch New Year Eve's programs. The town center is really close, just a walking distance.

The living room is very dark, with only a very tiny skylight. It requires the light to be constantly on. Very basic equipment for cooking.
Very pleasant bedroom under the roof top, with a nice view of the green surroundings. Clean apartment. Kind owner.
