Lot of mosquitoes within the hotel due to all the vegetation around the rooms. There were not that many mosquitoes in the village or on the beach. But you can expect that in the middle of a jungle.

It was SO humid 3 fans were not nearly enough and one kid was bitten alive in the hammock (his fault not having bug spray but do apply liberally at dusk!)

Great location on the side of the football pitch, 2 minutes from the beach and 2 minutes from the dock. Welcoming and friendly, kids loved relaxing in the hammock and the hostel run canoe trip

Our water went out more than once, and for a few hours at a time, which was not great. Communal kitchen was dirty so we didn’t try to use it.

Very close to the beach, good AC in the rooms, the tours we booked through the hostel (canoe tour, night walk) were both great.

Nothing significant. Bare lightbulbs in the ceiling would have been better with a fixture covering them (an easy and inexpensive way to make the room a bit nicer). No hooks in the bathroom for towels.

This is a combination hostel and hotel, with some private rooms. We had one of the private rooms with air conditioning, a must for the time of year we were there (end of summer, so it was hot). A/C was a blessing after a hot day walk in Tortuguero National Park. The room was basic but clean, and bathroom was okay. We only had a trickle of water from the faucet in the sink, and the toilet took a long time to flush, but the shower had good water pressure and lots of hot water. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and the restaurant offered an excellent breakfast. The highlight of this place was the ecotourism company they also operate. We booked all of our tours with them, and they were amazing! We did a night tour, two day walks, and a canoe tour. All were excellent, with small groups (from 2 to 8) which made the tours much better. Even if you don't stay at Aracari, consider booking guided tours through their tour company.

The building going on which involved noise and our window being opened to supply electricity and disruption of the outside upstairs lounge area. Not Pura Vida. However, water supplementary tank needed. Currently water not suitable for drinking. Tortuguero overloading its infrastructure? Cost of breakfast!

It was so beautiful! We saw a toucan in the garden and a very cute cat. The garden is actually really nice with many spots to hang out. The accommodation in itself is very nice and clean. We also bought a breakfast from them and it was really good.

The room was spacious and clean. Nice terrace with chairs and garden view. It's located very close to the beach and main street. Common area with couches and kitchen is a nice addition to the hostel. You also have a possibility to book tours through the hostel which is convenient - we liked our guide.

Staff were very helpful especially the lady who helps book the tours at reception. Location is perfect, close to the beach and the main town area. Very environmentally friendly and green / leafy. Tours were very good as well.

The staff was very nice and helpful. There is plenty of space with sofas and hammocks if you want to chill for a day. The rooms are good with comfortable beds. We booked all tours at the hostel and not in advance. It worked well and the guide was 10/10. They also arranged transfers.

Honestly, nothing. Accomodation was basic, as we expected. We were there for the wildlife, this was simply a place to stay and we'd stay here again. We never do luxury, always choosing to stay local, we would not have wanted to be far from the village in a fancy 'resort'.

This is a hostel and we had private room with ensuite. It's basic, as expected. You can use a well equipped kitchen, great if you are on a budget. It's right in Tortuguero close to many restaurants and mini market. There's a garden to relax in and a veranda with hammock. Very quiet at night. You can book tours which were great, we did canals in canoe, day walk and night walk (highlight). You can do self guided walk too either in the park or just along a path from the village to the airstrip.

There is no drinking water available so you always have to go out to buy your own, and it is expensive in the shops
