Although the heat is 'part of the game', a ventilator on the property's main terrace would add a nice bit of comfort.

Very nice location amidst the jungle, with lots of wildlife around. We were even lucky enough to spot some Toucans when sitting in the swimming pool. Breakfast was very good and staff was friendly. If you exit the backyard, you are suddenly on the town's 'airport' and very close to the beach, which was a nice bonus for us.

Beautiful scenery, helpful and friendly staff. Lots of wildlife! We saw sloths, toucans, macaws, snakes, crocodiles, caimen, iguanas and more!!! We deffinetly would come back here, we had an amazing time!

The location is stunning. We saw toucans, macaws, sloths, the incredible Montezuma Oropendola nests hanging in the trees, it’s was truly incredible. Willis the owner was a great host and the kitchen out on a great breakfast and dinner. I can’t speak highly enough of the grounds and how well kept it is. A true testament to them. Stay for 2 nights at a minimum, the town is great but the tranquility of Rankins is unmatched. Thank you

We arrived in Tortuguero from Moin. The welcome drink on arrival was extremely welcome! Great service bringing us to and from Tortuguero village (a few minutes by boat) to join our tour, for evening meals, and when we checked out in order to catch boat to La Pavona. Friendly service from Willis and his family, we arrived in the afternoon and he booked our canoe tour for us for the following morning. Lovely breakfasts by the waterside (other meals could be requested but we went back into the village). We had two adjoining rooms with a shared veranda for our family of four. Beautiful gardens, plenty of bird life to spot in the early morning from the pool!

Mosquitoes after 6pm! Helped with easing us from jet lag as we tended to eat dinner early and be in bed asleep by 8.30pm to avoid the mosquitoes.

A little paradise! The accommodation is basic, but the whole experience is just wonderful! If you’re looking for a pure pura vida experience with a nice family-owned accommodation, you have to go here. The most beautiful garden with all kinds of birds, a nice restaurant along the river, delicious breakfast and lovely dinner (on request) and friendly staff. The owners are so helpful. Willis gave us great advice and he gave us such a warm welcome. And he’s really funny as well ;) When we arrived he told us about the tours, so we didn’t have to look into info for ourselves. The prices of the tours, food and drinks are fair as well!

One has to accept this is a remote location and the facilities although very clean are 2 to 3 star level.

It was remote from Tortuguero, small, family run and very friendly. There were morning and evening boat tours into the Tortuguero National Park where many birds, animals and reptiles were seen. Willis offered guests a boat ride into Tortuguero a couple of times a day.

Apart from a little misunderstanding with the pick up place at the village that almost left us stranded there, all was ok and solved eventually. Everything else it is expected on a lodge like that in the middle of the nature (like ants in the bedroom, which happens when you take food to bedroom, so follow the advice of not storing any inside).

The area is amazing, we feel like we are on another world. Waking up with the sound of the animals is fantastic. The bungalow was nice, bear in mind that we are in a eco-lodge so no fancy comforts, so we see some little animals in the bedroom as well hiding away, which didn't bother us. The gardens are well treated, the swimming pool feels very good when it's hot, you can walk to the beach (that you can't swim but it is a lovely walk). The food at breakfast and dinner (or lunch) is tasty, the staff very nice and polite. Willis helped us booking the canoe tour and took us to the village when needed. The hammocks at the reception have the best view to the river and great to relax.

The location is incredible with a beautiful, well maintained garden. Willis offers to arrange tours & makes sure you get there on time. You can get to Tortuguero main dock or National Park by boat or a hike along the beach behind the lodge.

It would have been good to have some basic shampoo/shower gel provided for the shower in addition to the bars of soap, and the bathroom was a tad run down. Only a minor point but we were asked to pay in cash despite there being a sign saying card accepted, so make sure you have cash with you.

The setting was beautiful - we loved lying in hammocks on the deck, listening to the birds and watching boats go to and fro on the river. Tortuguero is a very special place and we loved our canoe tour of the national park. We enjoyed our host Willis' humour and he was very helpful ferrying us around and arranging tours for us. Breakfasts were generous and we also opted for the evening meals, which were simple but tasty. The grounds were lovely and it was very easy to access the beach and walk to the village. The rooms are simple but clean with decent fans.

The cabins are quite basic with no air conditioning, but that feels quite common for the area!

Willis is an exceptional host (with a cheeky sense of humour), picking you up from the main dock upon arrival and organising transfer back when you need to leave. He also organised getting us onto a tour of the canals of the national park, offering lifts there and back (he doesn’t do this if you book your own tours). Although it’s a little out of town, they do offer a lift into the main town and then back again in the evening so you can venture out to explore for a walk/drink/dinner. Breakfast was included and dinner option was also very good value for money.

The shower was like warm, but to be honest, that's great in the heat.

Beautiful surroundings, near beach and lake and plenty of wildlife (toucans, falcons, lizards, spiders) We were picked up from the main marina but Willis from the hotel and the transfer was very easy, as was getting in and out of the main small town area for dinner etc. we stayed just one night and would wish to stay longer.
