Breakfast was delicious couldnt wait for my ham and cheese omlette each morning, location is brilliant, everywhere we visited was within a 25min walk. Staff were very helpful and attentive. The spa was a bonus aswell!

I was booked into a very small room at a rate that I think was higher than it should have been for a room of that size in a hotel that could use some sprucing up. I’m guessing its proximity to the cathedral and other sites was the reason for this. In general, the rooms feel a little past their prime. They’re charming, I suppose, but old carpeting and plastic shower cabinets are not ideal.

- My room was a bit run down and felt very grimy overall - The entire room smelled like smoke, someone had clearly smoked inside. This left ALL of my clothes smelling like smoke - I went shopping on my trip and noticed that my brand new, unworn clothes smelled really bad when unpacking back home. Every time I entered the room I could also clearly smell smoke even though I opened all windows several times - the smell simply sits in all of the textiles in the room and will not go away. - It got very cold at night, all radiators were lukewarm at best despite being set to maximum (apparently they are controlled centrally) - No soundproofing in the building, so I woke up several times from the owner or other guests talking outside of my room
