Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Our room was right by the main door we could hear the slamming sometimes but not big of an issue.
It feels like home according to my eldest son! Always our fave place to stay when in island! Parking is a plus. 5 mins walk to the Legislature if you walk behind the museum.. also right across the street is Beacon Hill park. Staff were friendly and approachable! Our room has a kitchenette. With kids that are picky eaters, this is the reason we loved this place, did grocery shopping and we saved a lot by not eating out all the time and kids were fed properly...no cranky kids!😂😂

Breakfast could have been included for the value of money that we paid.
I liked the ambiance overall, the prices were almost double as it was the long weekend and we booked last minute (so that's our fault) but overall it was a good experience.

It was not a pleasant surprise to have to pay for parking at the hotel. At first, I was concerned that we were on the third floor, but a ramp to the second floor made it easier to access since there are no elevators and I just had a knee replacement.
The sheets were very clean, crisp and comfortable. The whole apartment was spotless. Even though we were on the third floor, there was a ramp up to the second floor so we only had to climb one flight of stairs. The hotel is close to Beacon Hill Park and close to the waterfront. The premises were secure and well maintained.

the location of this hotel was great! It is located in the heart of the downtown area and great for walking everywhere. The Inn it self is located across the street from the park & the government center. Could NOT ask for a better hotel

The rooms have been updated but the bathroom counters need replacing and the bathroom fan doesn’t actually remove moisture from the air so it was hard with four people showering.
The location is amazing! Having parking on site was great too.

No problems encountered here.
The room was well appointed with plenty of amenities. I liked the security of the building. the location was excellent next to the downtown core and Beacon Hill Park.

Fabulous location. Friendly and accommodating staff. Lovely room with comfortable beds and kitchen facilities. We loved being in the heart of the inner harbour where we could easily walk to Beacon Hill Park, the Royal BC Museum and BC Legislature. Thanks for a great stay!

Our room faced onto Superior Street which was very noisy at times - no breakfast was offered even though this was the most expensive of three hotels that we had stayed in James Bay.
The location is excellent as we walked into downtown Victoria every day. The King Suite was very roomy, a separate bedroom large king bed well stocked kitchen large fridge two large screen TVs room was air conditioned with lots of windows for light. We were in a separate building from the main building which had a sliding front door. The building & room needed a card to access - very safe place. Parking lot was small but very safe.

Staff was extremely nice and helpful. The hotel is in a great location for walking to many things in Victoria. It was nice that the room had a little kitchenette. We were in the Mount Royal building which was nice and quiet. Also very helpful to have car parking for a reasonable price. Would definitely stay here again.
