Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaI think the description in the listing on Booking.com mentions things that are specifically available for the more expensive suites so just make sure you know what to expect based on the particular suite you're picking.
We only stayed for a few hours but the front desk person was incredibly kind and understanding and the bed was super comfortable! The location was also great. A short walk to the main restaurants in Santa Teresa and about a 20 minute Uber to Centro.

United KingdomWe were fine but it is on a steep hill which you need to walk up and down to get to the bars and resturants. Very little English spoken, but there always Google translate!
Staff very friendly and helpful. Location in Santa Teresa is up a steep hill from the main bars and resturants. The views are spectacular and there's lots of outdoor space to enjoy. Rooms comfortable and very clean.

United States of AmericaWe had an extremely difficult time catching an Uber since the streets were winding around and probably confused drivers following by gps. Plus the Ubers wouldn’t be close by the area to begin. In one instance 3 Ubers canceled and the day we had to travel we gave up after 45 mins and luckily caught a taxi down the road. There was no breakfast included or to purchase and the hot tub wasn’t working.
The hotel was clean and well kept. The manager at the desk was super friendly and accommodating. The views were captivating though we had a simple room facing the street.

CanadaThe rooms could've been a bit bigger and the towels would have been better quality. The kitchen in the common space didn't have much utilities for you to use and was dirty from the other guests.
The common spaces were really nice and had a great view overlooking Rio. The area of Santa Teresa has a ton of great restaurants and cafes that are walking distance.

United KingdomWe stayed in late April - May so off-season I think. You can do Santa Teresa in a day, I wouldn't advise staying here for long unless you're a looking for a quiet holiday. Stick to Ipenama or Copacabana. It did have great views and pretty grounds. However the property feels confused - somewhere between apartments, a hostel and a hotel. No food shops nearby. Very few bars or restaurants. Extremely hilly and hard to get to. Taxis kept getting lost. There was a broken light in our room, didn't turn on and was hanging off the wall. The Aircon was very loud and slightly broken, it wouldn't swing and had no auto setting so would just constantly spit out cold air even during the night when it stopped being needed. The rooms are not soundproofed as advertised - one night dogs barking kept us awake for a while. The staff, while lovely and as helpful as possible, do not speak any English as advertised, this was one of the main reasons we booked as our Portuguese is very bad. We accidentally wandered into private houses below the hotel while looking for the bar, which had no signposting or restriction whatsoever which was a little awkward. No staff ever seemed to be around to get drinks such as water or beer from the locked fridge, only saw them for an hour in the morning. I'm unsure if this is what they mean by minibar, the rooms only have a fridge unstocked. Given that we were told not to bring any alcohol into the hotel and there was no shops around without paying for a taxi, we found this frustrating. Having no one a around to ask for guidance was also quite unsettling for us and not what we would expect from a hotel. We ended up getting an Airbnb in Ipenama after two nights which was much better both location wise and price. The hot tub, you have to ask for it to be prepared an hour in advance and I believe isn't always available - we never ended up using it.
The views are nice and the balcony was decent. The breakfast was okay. Bathroom decent.

ItalyNot a 4 stars. Dirty towels and not working safety box which wasn’t replaced (as requested). They charged money to keep the luggage after check out for a couple of hours (definitely not a hotel standard) highly not recommended. Overpriced and rooms are smelly and not cleaned

FranceFor the price charged (£200/night due to NYE), it's a mediocre place: the room is tiny and lacks basic amenities (no shampoo in the room, etc.), the curtains were hard to open, no lock, and everything was old and outdated. The breakfast is industrial, apart from the fruits.
Very nice view and terrace, very nice staff.

United KingdomOn the morning I checked out, I asked the hotel to keep my bag until 7pm, when I'd leave for the airport. They refused to do so, which caused me considerable inconvenience. In addition, the food served at breakfast showed signs of cost-cutting, with fruit squash provided instead of fruit juice, and very low quality bread rolls & yoghurt.
Fabulous views both from bedroom and from outside breakfast area, and in a very tranquil area of the city. The bedroom was furnished to a very high standard.

United States of AmericaI wish the hotel offered breakfast, I would've loved to eat with that view in the background. Also the limited time for check-in made it complicated for us who were landing in town after 5pm.
The hotel itself is beautiful and the view is amazing! The staff was so kind and helpful and definitely made our stay super special. I loved that our room had a hot tub and that it had AC inside. Felt very private and comfortable.

United States of AmericaHotel Sant' Martre is located on top of a hill in Santa Teresa so you have an incredible view of Rio. It was perfect for us because we stayed there fro New Years Eve so we could see all the fire works from above. I don't think we could've had a better view staying anywhere else. The staff is so nice and helpful. Our rooms had an incredible view. We were arriving at the hotel later than their receptions opening hours but we messaged them to let them know and they stayed almost until midnight waiting for us. That was super nice of them. They helped us with our airport taxi the night we were leaving. Overall we had a really good experience and would definitely be back.
