Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaTwo minor issues: A fan was provided as weather was very hot which was good but it was too noisy to have on while sleeping; Restaurant closed at 8 pm with only bar platters as alternative and no other meal option.
Room spacious and clean. Breakfast plentiful. Perfect location and fantastic decor; nice spaces to sit and chat over a drink. Nice cocktails from the bar.

AustraliaWas a bit hot because there was no air-conditioning, but with the floor fan in the rooms it was okay.
Fantastic old hotel with plenty of beautiful rooms with wooden stylish furniture. You can imagine a way back how people dressed up and stayed there in the 1880 and onwards.Nice bathroom and the breakfast ok too.

AustraliaThe continental breakfast was rubbish and the service from the staff during breakfast was even worse. Your hotel is beautiful but I will never eat a meal there again.

AustraliaThere is no internal access from the garage so walking up wet stairs with luggage and trying to pull open the heavy front door was challenging. Perhaps given its old world style, they need someone on the door? The antique lift is delightful but 2 people with luggage is the most it can handle . We failed 3 times to open the outer door before the inner closed. 😂 We opted for the stairs for the rest of our stay. Breakfast has some nice inclusions but the quality of the bread let it down.
The sense of history and all the architectural and design details are wonderful. We definitely felt like we had stepped back in time or into the set of an Agatha Christie mystery. In fact after a midnight ruckus caused by some other guest we expected to find a body in the library. Lots of lovely areas to sit and soak it all in or have a drink, read or play pool or snooker. Nice to have a continental breakfast included. The bathroom is gorgeous. Love this floor tiles! The huge lead light windows over the window seat in our room were so striking that we never drew the curtains.

United KingdomContinental breakfast included had plenty of choice but a dairy free yoghurt option would have been a nice touch although it seems Australia needs to catch up with the rest of the world on the allergens front generally. The bar closed very early. Even though it was a Sunday i would have expected the bar to stay open for guests as long as they want it.
Room was great, double + single bed for child. Big bathroom and shower / wet room which was excellent. Didn't spend much time in the room so only needed to sleep and shower. Bottles of water provided in the mini fridge was a nice surprise.

AustraliaBreakfast really disappointing. Buffet breakfast hardly had any choice and was pretty empty when we were there. Better to get rid of buffet breakfast altogether and simply charge for breakfast.

United KingdomIn keeping with the room the furniture is also an older style and the tv, fridge etc were kept inside an armoire. The armoire had handles/keys that rattled every time you walked near it. No aircon, just a fan, so it was stuffy. The bed felt like it was on a slope; my head felt like it was higher than my feet so I had trouble sleeping.
Location is fab; on the same street as the shops and restaurants in the area. Staff were super friendly. Secure parking was a bonus. The hotel had a lot of character.

AustraliaWe were disappointed that the Dining Room was not open for tea on Mondays & Tuesdays. The mattress on our bed was too soft for us (very much a personal thing).
We loved staying in a hotel that is such an important part of Australia's history. So well-preserved and authentic. An experience we are not likely to easily find at a price we could afford. Beautiful breakfast in the Grand Dining Room.

United States of AmericaThe location was the best-literally a block from the train station. Also, you could purchase tickets for the "Hop On Hop Off" bus at the hotel and the first stop was literally across the street from the hotel. That bus circles the area stopping at all the highlights and hikes. That bus, by the way, was fantastic-a real bargain and if you're the only ones on it and it's ahead of schedule you do get a personal tour with as many stops as you want!

AustraliaThe dining room was a magnificent venue but the quality of the food was not good e.g. one vegetable was stone cold, the menu was not showing the correct vegetables and the meat was of average quality. The evening meal was a bit disappointing.
The old world charm of the premises combined with modern bathroom facilities in our room were excellent.
