How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

As mentioned, it's pretty barebones, so you don't get things some other hostels have like reading lights or privacy curtains etc, but no harm for the price. Also note that if you're in the room next to the bathroom, in particular the bed up against the bathroom wall, you WILL hear the comings & goings of everyone using it, just FYI if you happen to be in that spot like me.
Couldn't be in a better location, just a few minutes away from Central Station. It's bare bones in terms of what it has, but it has all the essentials (lockers, bedside sockets etc.), and everything is fairly new here, so it's pretty well kept. Also LOVED the noticeboard with events & essentials for both tourists & working backpackers. Would've been perfect if I stayed longer.

We stayed with a big group of friends for Mardi Gras weekend. Location was excellent, check in was seamless. Ideal set up for groups of friends

Friendly and co-operative staff is the biggest asset of this Hostel.
Location was at the heart of the City. Room was clean. Breakfast was not available.

Property was in an ideal location, just a short walk from the central station. The staff couldn’t have been nicer, Smrita was especially helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay there again if in Sydney!

The sheets weren't very clean and the mattress protector and duvet didn't look as if they had been washed.

The room wasn't "super clean"...but it was liveable. The Doors for the communal bathrooms are close and people tend to slam them (the walls are thin) so it can wake you up @ night
Location was great. Price was good to stay in a private room! The staff was fantastic! Dylan was super....answered all of my questions and was just a great person.

Great stay. Met some awesome people in my room. Talked about soccer- spots they should visit, music and shared mutual interests and hobbies and it was just an awesome stay. Staff were again friendly as always in my personal experience

The staff are the best! Always friendly and make you feel so welcome. They’re legends. The location is perfect. The rooms are decent and whenever I’ve gone here I’ve always lucked out and made friends with ppl I’ve stayed with and gotten to know them and meet new people.

They asked me for a credit card, which I don’t understand since I have my card here in booking The kitchen was usually full of people what made hard to use it
The room and the bed were very comfortable. The bathroom were clean and the check in process was fast.

The hostel only has 1 lift which at the same time using by the housekeeping to keep up with their job on daily basis.

They only have one lift for the entire building which the housekeeping also using the lift at the same time

The Common Area and kitchen are quite dirty but it is make sense because this hostel is always busy and popular
The location is walking distance to Town Hall, China Town and Central station. Staff is very accommodating, daily housekeeping included. Lift works properly. Room is vey nice and clean
