Residence Hotel Takayama Station is well situated in the center of Takayama, and provides a fitness center, free WiFi and a terrace. This 4-star hotel offers luggage storage space. This hotel is amazing. It is few steps from the station, few minutes walk from the center, the room was the most spacious I had during my three week travel to Japan. It also had a full equipped kitchen and a great washing machine.

The staff was not fluent in English but they were very helpful and used a translating app to speak to us. The room was clean, breakfast was great, the sauna and hot springs (2 large bath tubs) were amazing as well. 5 Stars.

Conveniently close to the train station and a ~10min walk to the old town. The room itself vas very clean, modern and comfortable. The breakfast was great, especially the selection of Yakitori.

In a prime location in the center of Takayama, Temple Hotel Takayama Zenkoji provides air-conditioned rooms, a garden, free WiFi and a shared lounge. We (my wife and I) stayed in the Zenko-Ji Temple hotel for one night and had a fantastic experience. We were greeted warmly right from the beginning by the friendly staff and could check in despite arriving a bit before the check-in time. After the quick check-in we had a small tour of the place and got an introduction to the temple and the various possible activities we can partake in. We had a lovely room (Sakura room), nothing fancy but very fitting to the place itself- traditional, simplistic yet comfortable. The next day we joined the morning prayer at 7:00 am which is highly recommended. Afterwards we also had a meditation session with the head monk who runs the temple/hotel. It was a great experience with some useful insights about meditation. Overall I would highly recommend staying here. It's not a place for a fancy stay but a place that can offer an insight to Buddhism in Japan, where you can have lovely conversations with the friendly staff and enjoy a peaceful environment.

Super comfortable bed in spotlessly clean room and friendly staff. Breakfast was absolutely sensational. Huge range of both Japanese and Western options, all of them delicious! Excellent value for 1500 yen. There's not much going on in Gifu, but we discovered a great eatery strip just a couple of streets away, which offered a welcome splash of colour and life. Highly recommend the chicken yakitori place! If we were staying longer in Gifu, we would have taken advantage of the hotel's bicycle hire option.

Exceptional views from just outside the building of Gifu mountains, and the rooms themselves are very well-equiped and comfy, considering the price! JR line users have to walk 10-11 minutes from the station but the hotel is just 5 minutes walk from the Meitetsu Gifu station.

We traveled with a toddler and this is no easy feat but the hotel had a designated play room with books, toys galore, coloring materials, stuffed animals and even a ball pit! The onsen was so relaxing after a long day of walking and the views are spectacular. If you enjoy a good breakfast then you’re in luck because the buffet offers not only a good variety but also quality. The shuttle service was really the star, without it this place would be out of the way. I would stay here again!

A full score staying experience! The amenity is absolutely great, with two onsens in the hotel and the main onsen has both indoor and outdoor pools. I booked a Japanese style guestroom and the experience is quite unique. The hotel location is not so close to the railway station, but definitely within walking distance. Not advertised, but the hotel is acquainted by so many royal members of Japan, and the exhibitions within the hotel is eye opening.
