The property is right on lake Myvatn, which is good and bad. When the wind blows you can take nice walks around the lake. And this is a remote place so the hotel was quiet day and night for our visit. The bad news is the the midge flies swarm outside when it’s calm outside. The flies don’t swarm inside the hotel, if they do get inside the window they stay in the window. The restaurant on site is nice, and we loved our included breakfast each day. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Homemade ice cream sold next door is amazing!

The rooms, as in all the Fosshotel locations, were lovely. The bar and breakfast area were beautiful, and we loved seeing the sheep that hang out near the hotel. The location was good - although we had a very rainy, misty, cold June day in Lake Myvatn so I cannot say if the views were good (they appear to be). Our only issue was that the construction of the hotel is concrete, which made all the footsteps in the rooms above us rather loud, and my kids had trouble sleeping due to it.

An excellent place to stay next to Lake Myvatn. Located close to Hverir geothermal area and Myvatn Nature Baths (well worth a visit). The restaurant here is superb and the buffet breakfast the best we had in Iceland with meats and cheeses etc. from the farm (there is a very strong farm to plate ethic going on here). The room itself was well sized but cozy and warm (it was minus 13 in the morning so this was important!). Plus you can go and pet the cows and calves!

The room was comfortable and really clean. There were shared showers/toilets but the room had a sink inside which was a plus. The breakfast was delicious, with a very nice view of the fields. 20min by car from Lake Myvatn. One can also buy pretty Icelandic sweaters there in a decent price compared to shops in Reykjavik or Akureyri.

Nice location very close to lake Myvatn. Very friendly receptionist, who took her time to explain everything we needed to know. We booked a suite, which was nice and spacious with a bedroom and a sitting room. We had dinner in the garden of Gamli Baerinn, the tavern next door that belongs to the hotel. Nice food and friendly waiters.

Central location at lake Myvatn. Proper rooms with bath and comfortable bed. We were here in August, so there were thousands of flies and mosquitos which dont bite, so its just a little bit stressful when they invade your head. :) Nothing to do with the guesthouse, just consider this at that time of the year.

Comfortable but small room, large en suite bathroom with heated floor. Excellent location for Lake Myvatn - short drive to all key sites including Myvatn baths, Hverir etc. Close to supermarket, petrol station, pizza and more formal restaurants. Easy check-in and check-out with self use codes.

We got a corner room with views of Lake Myvatn. Gorgeous! Modern, clean, and very well designed in a lovely hotel.

A very nice room, however small it was The beds were fine The bathroom was fine We were allowed to use the shared kitchen, and it was a great experience. The location is great and beautiful, in the center of a giant lava field. Staff members were very kind and helpful. we paid extra for laundry. the parking was in front the room door. we were very happy from everything.

Great breakfast. Lava bread was different. The host was really accommodating and so kind. They made me an early breakfast package due to my early departure. There's a grocery store, gas station, and fish n chips place nearby.
