This new hotel is built in an old prison: the rooms are made from 3 old cells and are very atmospheric, comfortable and well-designed. The real surprise is the excellent restaurant. Executive chef Dane and his team presented a dinner that, I consider, matches or exceeds what "well-known" chefs in the Padstow and Harlyn Bay area produce. A very welcome discovery and we will be back!

St Tudy Inn

Set in Bodmin, 37 km from Newquay Train Station, St Tudy Inn offers accommodation with a restaurant, free private parking and a bar. We stayed here over the weekend when our friends were getting married in Rock about 20 mins or so away. St Tudy Inn have got it absolutely spot on! From the moment we got there we were looked after SO well! It was a very friendly welcome from the staff on arrival and there was really relaxing acoustic music on in the background in the bar/restaurant which helped us completely calm down after a long journey. We loved the decor throughout; country modern featuring work by local artists and log fires 😍 Everything was pristine clean! We slept really well - the beds were very comfortable and the sheets were of good quality. The room had everything we wanted. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice. We had the full English on the first day and the next day we had salmon and poached eggs. It was all very fresh and well presented and really added to our conclusion that the stay as a whole was good value! The location was perfect - it was a small and authentic feeling village but with beautiful beaches and other towns nearby such as Polzeath, Rock and Port Isaac. The staff were really good people who cared about us and what they were providing for guests. They absolutely and truly went above and beyond to make sure we were okay and had everything we needed. We will definitely go back (we plan to in the winter when the cosy log fires are on if not before!) and have already recommended St Tudy Inn to our friends.

As the Americans say, “what’s not to like?”. I was fortunate enough to stay in The Forte Suite, with floor space larger than my little cottage near Sydney! Sooo comfortable. Loved the ambience, the food, that setting. A special shout-out to our waiter at lunch and dinner, Ricardo, and the restaurant manager ( sadly I don’t know her name) consummate professionals both. Coming from Australia, where pet-friendly places are slowly appearing, what a joy for me to see them welcomed on the terrace and some rooms. My friend and dog stayed in the Garden Room. Wonderful decor and immense outdoor space. If you are planning a visit, don’t hesitate. You will not be disappointed. Thank you, Tresanton.
