Do not stay at the Sandcastle Resort. Its disgusting.
Do not stay at the Sandcastle Resort. Its disgusting. This is by far the most disappointing motel stay I've ever experienced. The first room had ridiculously old mattresses that looked more like a sway-back horse than a bed and there was a poor whining dog in the room next door that would be quiet. The staff were kind enough to move us to another room but this wasn't any better. This room smelled like the last guest smoked weed in here and there were ants EVERYWHERE in the bathroom and the sink and counter outside the bathroom. There was also someone else's used soap on the window ledge in the shower. If there had been another beach front room available we would have left. This place calls itself a resort but it is a trashy motel. Shame on this company for how they misrepresented this property online. The rooms in the photos look nothing like the dingy dirty ant ridden rooms on site. The carpet is old and musty, the paint is peeling and mildewed in places. The whole place is disgusting. I will be reviewing this place accordingly on every site possible. The worst part is the front desk staff tried but they are clearly understaffed for what is expected of them. Despite their kindness it was not enough to make up for how generally awful this place is.

Lido Beach is a great place to relax.
Lido Beach is a great place to relax. I don't recommend taking young kids. The beach has a lot of shells, the restaurants are geared more to adults and it overall was pretty sleepy. Me personally, Lido was my least favorite behind, Siesta and Clearwater both are less than an hour away. That being said, I would still recommend Lido beach for an adults only, relaxing getaway.

One of my favorite beaches.
One of my favorite beaches. Wide beach with white sand leading to the warm water of the Gulf. It really doesn't get crowded like some of the other beaches. There is a sand bar that can easily be accessed at low tide to take a little break before swimming back in. There are no hotels directly on the beach on the north end which provides an open feel and the illusion that you are not near a populated area. There are some great places to stay, on the beach, if you go further down. Love this beach!!
