nice place, nice people, very friendly athmosphere.
nice place, nice people, very friendly athmosphere. The mausoleums, madrassas and musea (don't forget the museum at the mediaval city ruins) are truly remarkable. Don't forget to visit the university quarter (and the Theatre of historical costume «El merosi» and it's coffee bar).
A continuous struggle and ripping off by taxi drivers, so be informed of what you are supposed to pay. Perfect point to move on by train to Bukhara. Samarkand is a grand destination.

Izumrud Palace is the kind of small, family run enterprise that deserves our support. Room was clean and spotless, newly refurbished and everything was in great working order. Bed was very comfortable. AC/Heater worked really well. Smart TV. Breakfast was simple yet complete—with a great supply of varying Uzbekistan pastries. Bathroom even had a heated floor. Balcony had a nice view to the street—but was able to keep away noise because its double paned.
It’s a stone throw away from the Registan—a quick 5 minute cab ride away. Cabs can be easily hailed with the Yandex app—no need to haggle a price and generally fares were priced well. Airport is about 20minutes away and the train station is 15.

Beautiful and clean city, rich in history, delicious food, super affordable, friendly and nice people despite the language barrier.
Main issue was toilet, there are not enough toilets around and not all restaurants have toilets.
Public toilets cost 2000-3000 som and it is dirty.
Better book taxi thru yandex app rather than hailing a cab as drivers charge more.

Amazing city with great vibes.
Amazing city with great vibes.
I like it more than Tashkent, and I believe it worth visiting again. One of the best stays is in Continental Hotel Samarkand, a very nice hotel with great location, also a restaurant called Oasiz, it’s more international cuisines but very tasty and clean.
It was so cold at night, and locals advised ti visit the city between February and may. Also I was fully dependent on Yandex in finding rides with a good rates, and also for food delivery.

One of the underrated and lesser known travel destination,...
One of the underrated and lesser known travel destination, which should be in everyone's checklist. Samarkand and Bukhara oozes history and is full of magnificent mosques, madrassas and mausoleums. Both the cities are easy to walk around and the people are very helpful (and will take effort to answer and guide you, even though they do not speak fluent English). Though Uzbekistan is a major meat-eating country, I did not find it difficult to get good vegetarian food. Do try the Samsa (either the Pumpkin / Potato ones) and the Pulav (again you can get the vegetarian version).
Places one should not miss out
Samarkand - Registan Square, Gur-e-Amir, Bibi Khanum mosque and Shah-i-zinda
Bukhara - Po-i-Kalon ensemble, Bukhara Ark / Fort, Lyabi Hauz ensemble, Chor Minor & Boloi Hauz Mosque
Ensure you also re-visit Registan Square (in Samarkand) and Kalon Minaret (in Bukhara) in the night under lights.
I absolutely loved my stay in the beautiful and stylish hotel. The breakfast buffet was the most elaborate and delicious one I encountered on my entire trip to Uzbekistan and a fierce competitor to other buffets I have enjoyed in many hotel restaurants around the world. The location is fine, close to many restaurants and parks. A walk to the major historical sites is a bit longer (about 25 min), but you'll walk along a leafy boulevard and it is easy to get there. I do recommend staying here!
Me and wife were visiting Samarkand, Uzbekistan. We really loved the architecture of this hotel, it felt like a home from the first sight. The owner Samandar personally checked us in and it was an amazing experience. The breakfast was served the next morning, there no words that can describe how amazing it was. So many choices and amazing tasty food. I would recommend anyone who is visiting Samarkand, Uzbekistan to try this hotel and I assure you that you will fall in love.
This is a family owned guesthouse. The owner is very friendly and always helpful. His wife prepares every day a delicious breakfast. Location is great, all main sites are within walking distance, e.g. the Registan. A big shout out to the reception clerk, very friendly and super helpful and he always serves delicious green tea with some sweets. Samarkand was one of the highlights of our trip to Uzbekistan and for sure this guesthouse was a little gem! Highly recommended
I extended my stay. The owner is really helpful and welcoming. This place has soul and I noticed that immediately after having stayed in a lot of 4-5star hotels recently in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Not for the pretentious traveler but someone who wants somewhere with more of a homely, personal touch. The rooms may have been upgraded or some at least because my room was better than the photos. Really great value for money.
- This is more like a guest house rather than a hotel. A family basically runs this place and they are very welcoming and nice hosts. They usually sit in the shop next to the hotel.
- The best thing about this place is the location. It is in the heart of the main tourist area.
- The room has an AC which for me was very useful as it was quite hot in Samarkand.
- Some nice restaurants right very close to the hotel.
We had a wonderful stay in this lovely hotel which is just a ten minute walk to the Registan. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and we enjoyed hearing about the history of Samarkand and the the hotel from Jahongir. The breakfasts were the best that we had in Uzbekistan and we appreciated the cups of tea when we returned from our explorations. Highly recommended!
The design of the hotel, the amenities and the wonderful and delicious breakfast. I must say that the hotel is one of the most amazing hotels in Samarkand. My friends and I really liked the hotel. Moreover, it can be felt that the hotel staff are sincerely performing their duties. I rate the service as well as the duties of the staff as 10/10.
This is a great hotel. Conveniently located within walking distance of Shah-I-Zinda, one of the best sites in Samarkand. The staff was helpful. The rooms were spacious, clean, had working AC, and even heated drying racks for clothing. The pool was great for the whole family and had a bar where you could order decently priced drinks.
Perfect new hotel on the entrance of Registan park. Perfect location, extremely clean, beautiful design. The hotel is managed by the family of the owners. Very polite people! The food - perfect, they helped to us for washing the dresses. Maybe this is the best hotel in Samarkand. We were happy to be guests to the hotel.
Excellent location. We walked from there until the Registan. However its a long walk.. so be prepared with comfy shoes.
The owners son was at the desk ... very young and bright kid... had a lovely talk with him about Samarkand and Uzbekistan. He also gave us good recommendations.. and hospitable
Amazing guesthouse super close to Registan. Very quiet location, the family running the place is kind and very helpful. The owners went the extra mile to help us which made our time in Samarkand very pleasant.
Breakfast is a real feast! It was the best breakfast we had in our time in Uzbekistan!
Very nice and money-worth hotel right by the Registan square! And so far it was so the best (out of not expensive ones) hotel for me in Uzbekistan!
Very spacious and cozy room, finally comfortable and soft mattress bed, nice pillows, amazing terrace for chilling!
The atmosphere in the hotel. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. We always got tea and snacks when we came back from sightseeing. Breakfast was very good.
It was our favourite accomodation during our 10 day Uzbekistan journey!
Beautiful hotel in the heart of Samarkand, but the highlight really was the staff. I have never been treated so well in a hotel! Especially at this price. We had a big beautiful room, lovely spa, great breakfast. Everything was great!
Excellent location, right next to Registon. The hotel is run by a lovely family. Breakfasts in the courtyard were a wonderful way to start our days in Samarkand. The owner, Farhod is a great source of information and local history.
Opted to stay here my last night in Uzbekistan purely because it's attached to one of the more highly rated restaurants in the city. The restaurant didn't disappoint. The room was also very spacious and impeccably clean.
Actually everything, especially comparing to the other guesthouses where I was staying in Uzbekistan for the same price. All was clean and working with amazing Manager.
The best hostel in Uzbekistan. Super well maintained, clean, great breakfast. The owner is beyond helpful. This is where you want to stay in Samarkand as a traveller.
The location is in a nice quiet neighborhood, but it’s very close to Registan Square, restaurants and shops. And the best breakfast I’ve had in Uzbekistan.
Location, one of the receptionists was great! Helped us with the cash issues (pls be informed that in Uzbekistan money in the ATMs could finish very fast)
