Quaint property. Cute little pool with fire pit seating area.

Maui has the best beaches and the ones off Wailuku are not too busy and lovely. It’s a full service town where the planes fly in so there are many shopping options including Costco. Vacation rentals are relatively expensive here.

If you don’t have a rental car you can plan on lots of walking. The bus system is great, but you need to make sure you have the time to do that. There isn’t a whole lot to see where we stayed. It is in an older part of Wailuku. Definitely not a tourist town, as such.

Wailuku is the County Seat and is several miles from the beach. So, if going to the beach, or to the mountains, you will need a car. However, it is a relatively small island, so if the beach resort life is not for you, this is a good place to stay.

I highly recommend having a rental car or you will be miserable without easy access to any waterfronts, however, this depends on where you are staying at so this might not be a problem but just a heads up if you book a place in town, GET A RENTAL CAR!!!

Central location - 20 min from airport, 6 min from groceries, walking distance to dining and banks and shopping. Lovely hike to Iao State Park available a short drive away. Easy access to highways to beaches. Fun to wake up to roosters crowing :)

We were only there for two days, then off to another part of Maui. The town itself did not have a lot going on, not much to see or do. The Iao State Park; however, was worth a quick visit. Very picturesque with minimal walking. Parking is limited, and $5.
I was pleasantly surprised that the toilets were so clean for a hostel, infact better than some hotels! The bed and sheets were clean and comfy. This place has such nice vibes and was a great place to stay. Everyone was friendly and we felt very safe staying here. My only grouse was the stairs as we had huge cargo bags but the owner was very nice to help us carry up and down the stairs! I also loved the location where food and amenities are easily accessible. The pancakes in the morning were yummy, overall we had a great stay!
To start with the host. Katie was kind and thoughtful.easy to communicate even made restaurant reservation. The property is luxurious right on the water everything you can expect from a 5 star place. The decoration and the welcome treat is special with all the exotic flowers. The unit is modern with all the comfort to the last details like bathrobe etc,..
We stayed before in most of the Wailea luxury hotels but will come back to this place first in the future. Made our stay with our friends unforgettable.
Tamara was the best host. She is very welcoming and always one text away. She brings us breakfast every day. I love the pastries and fresh fruits especially the papaya. The location is really clean and nice. There’s a waterfall in the area. Our stay was very relaxing and away from most of the tourists. Oh and I love their dog Kahu. She’s so friendly. Definitely recommend this place. Thank you for having us. We will definitely book here again if we go back to Maui. Mahalo!
It was perfect location central to everything. It was very easy to find, close to mountain views and ocean. It was clean and more than enough for what we wanted. Staff was very kind and helpful. This is not a resort so if you want that, then go somewhere else. They do have some items for the beach you can borrow. Also love that there are no resort and parking fees. There were good restraurants near by also. we would stay again.
Inside Rick has made every upgrade imaginable! Over and above anything we have seen. Everything from lighting to robes to a fancy Japanese style smart-toilet. And the location is convenient to all of Maui and the view of the water and morning sunrise is stunning. Very much enjoy swimming in the pool and relaxing under the shady trees. Close to shops as well. Not crowded at all.
Maureen really has her hosting down to a fine art - had lots of tips and was very helpful getting settled in. The room had interesting tropical decor, which set it apart from the cookie cutter style of chain hotels. There were lots of little touches to make guests more comfortable: beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, a beach bag, a cooler, and even an umbrella to take along on day trips.
My wife and I stayed stayed at the The Old Wailuku in September 2022 during our first time in Maui and we had a great time. Our room was cozy, the house is well located, the breakfast was really good, and the staff was helpful and nice. We met the owners and they are such a nice couple, they gave us tips of restaurants, roads, and beaches. We would definitely stay here again.
Wonderful location, in one of the most beautiful parts of Maui. So much nicer than staying in a resort hotel. So peaceful - just the sound of the river and birds - with fabulous views, a comfortable room and delicious breakfasts left on our own patio/fridge for the next day. One of the nicest places I’ve ever stayed.
It’s the cleanest place I have ever rented from.
Maureen was the best host. Super friendly and always gave great recommendations to places for us to see or try. Moving forward I will only be staying there every time I fly into Maui. This place was perfect and free parking was a super bonus too.
I loved everything about our stay here. The hotel is comfortable and the room we stayed in was clean and perfect for 2. I love the breakfast and how convenient everything is. The owners really go above and beyond for their guests. It’s a great base to see all of Maui!!! Great stay!!!
I’ve stayed at these condos many times. i was just there last June. i have always had an amazing experience. the condos are located in the perfect spot on Maui with amazing views! the pool is gorgeous and the people are always friendly that you encounter.
It’s Maui, so what’s not to like. You don’t really need a pool if you have an ocean, and you don’t really need AC if the trade winds are blowing. The unit is near a park with a long, mostly pretty quiet beach with decent snorkeling.
My friends and I had a fantastic stay, the guys of the staff are very kind, the common area are also beautiful, more than a hostel it felt like being in a hotel! Not to mention the atmosphere, it felt like being in the family!
Quiet and clean. Our unit newly renovated, comfortable mattress conveniently located for us as we have a Daughter living in Kahului. Centrally located. Right next to fabulous Aquarium you can walk to. Private beach
Great location in Wailuku to explore multiple points of interest in Maui. The Wailuku area is also nice with local shops. I had to do the checkout at 5am so appreciated the 24/7 schedule of the reception.
The accommodations were very pristine and welcoming. Tony was welcoming and kind. We enjoyed our one night stay. Our needs were met in a time of need because of the West Maui disaster.
100% recommended! great location, awesome swimming pool and noce owners ready to help and answer any of your question. I would definitely choose WailukuGuesthouse again!
