Not many eateries near the lodgings.
Not many eateries near the lodgings. I heard that if you were visiting ND as your 50th state, the visitors bureau had special items for you.
Close proximity to Theodore Roosevelt NP. A nice park with beautiful scenery and lots of hiking trails.

7 or 8 years ago, they struck oil, so the Hawthorn Suites and surrounding stores, and a brand new shopping center, which is almost completed, etc. was built on open land. Therefore everything is new and nice.

Dickenson is a big-small town that has everything you need.
Dickenson is a big-small town that has everything you need. Many different restaurants to choose from, shopping for everyone in the family. There are recreation sites, museums that feature the history of the town and prehistoric history as well. Something for everyone when you come to Dickenson. Not far from the Badlands of North Dakota where you can spend the day and come back to relax in the evening.
Great staff, very friendly and helpful. Nice room with a very homey feel - I like the Hampton Inn & Suites brand because they have carpets, nice drapes, bedspreads, it really feels comfortable. Some hotels have removed these touches for covid, but I like them. The room was comfortable, clean, and quiet. Also theres a GREAT Japanese restaurant for take-out just across the street. Breakfast had make-your-own waffles and lots of good options. Coffee was good, too. I felt safe and happy here as a single traveler.
Honestly, I thought the staff were friendly until the manager hired my bf as a maintenance man, we were super excited for that, and then day 4 fired him and didn’t pay him then told her we owe them money. The manager at the Dickinson North Dakota red roof is completely unprofessional and will agree to one thing then tell you another. I will never stay at this hotel ever again. And I will contact the hotel board to report this person.
The suite I booked was fantastic—same cost as a regular hotel room locally but included a full kitchenette (including a dishwasher). It was more like an upscale efficiency apartment. Full-size refrigerator, etc. Clearly this is a place where people book for long-term stays (probably associated w/the oil industry). There's a big pool and it's close to the museum center, shopping, etc.
Room was quiet, bed was comfortable. Heating/cooling system was noisy. Cleanliness was a major issue, as the hotel is VERY understaffed [and did not have a cordless stick vacuum that I could use on the stairs and hallway]. "Josh" was very responsive to our concerns, but the poor guy needs to be working a LOT less than he is.
Nice Refrigerator & other appliances.
We’ve able to prepare our cottage cheese salad that night
to take to our family reunion the following morning.
The bed is comfy. The room is nice & clean.
Good location of the hotel. It’s easy to find
The hotel is recently refreshed, not remodeled but new paint and other updates have been done but not a complete remodel. The room rate was exceptional for the timing that I was there compared to everything else in the area..
The room had more than we could ask for! We had a full size fridge, stove, hairdryer, and the hotel clerk gave service with a smile! That was my first clue that we were going to have the best stay ever!
It has a 7 out of 10 rating for good reason. It's a a fine place to stay but getting a bit dated and worn. Breakfast with eggs and sausage was a step up from the usual hotel continental.
Room was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful.
For a full hotel, including all the kids there for a tournament, the evenings quieted down by 11 p.m.
Breakfast was hot every morning.
The hotel was quiet, room was huge. Staff was friendly. They seemed to be an extended family working together to run the hotel. It was actually quite wholesome to witness.
Location was good, hotel was clean but bathroom faucet was not functioning properly and was leaking a lot, carpet was not clean, at least in the room I stayed.
