The trip to Waynesboro was great because I have family there and was my main reason for the visit. As far as the stay, it was ok but more than I had originally been prepared to pay. Reason being, the Booking.com agent that booked me booked me in Waynesboro, VA. I wasn't aware of until I reached my destination and was told I had no reservation. Small town nearby Shenandoah NP. Spent only couple of hours in the town, but it felt like the place was rather sleepy without anything worth seeing. No or very few restaurants and most of the stores in town were closed rather early.

Well, it suited us after a long day of hiking in Shenandoah National Park. The town we did not go into, it looks like the town-businesses are not doing too well. Many of the businesses around our hotel were boarded up or closed.

Literally at a crossroads for 3+ highways, but after you leave that junction it has a small town feel. Very close to many very nice vineyards, breweries and distilleries. Next to Shenandoah State Park, Blue Ridge Parkway and Appalachian Trail. Crozet Tunnel is very close and a nice and interesting walk. Bring your flashlight! It was close to the Rockfish Gap Entrance to Shenandoah...
It was close to the Rockfish Gap Entrance to Shenandoah National Park, as well as the entrance to the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway. Great coffee shops, restaurants, and breweries. I recommend Farmhaus Coffee Shop, Blue Mountain Brewery (in Afton), Heritage on Main, Seven Arrows Brewery, and Basic City Brewery. All places we went to were following COVID guidelines, although not all patrons were, especially in places like Sheetz. We went hiking, horseback riding, and cavern exploring in various locations. Everything was less than a 2 hr drive from this central location.

But I walked into the room and was floored because it looked like just about everything was brand new. It was super clean and well-stocked. Pillow-topped mattress, great pillows. A private balcony with a view of the mountains. Next morning, a fantastic breakfast at the hotel next door (same owners run the hotels on the same parking lot). There was also a nice laundry for guests to use.

This Comfort Inn was very tired, our bathroom floor and entry floor where very dirty, the room smelled so musty when we opened the door it was terrible. Had I not booked ahead and prepaid we would have left the bed needed upgraded. To have paid 200 for this hotel is crazy but location was the key.
