A vibrant city with calmer beaches and busy markets.
A vibrant city with calmer beaches and busy markets. The people are incredibly friendly. I would go again as I didn't have time to fully explore.
On the plateau, explore the historic memory island of Gorée, go to the HLM market, the textiles market in Sandaga, the food market of Kermel. If you have time, go to the beach in Ngor and swim to Ngor island. Eat some local grilled fish and fresh veges.
Just drink bottled water :)

Senegal has very friendly people with lots of places to see and visit. It's easy to move around either by hailing Taxis or using the Yango ride app.
I enjoyed my visits to the Marché Soumbédioune. Here, you can buy authentic African craft from the Artisanal Village. Nearby is the Soumbédioune sea food market where you can buy a variety of fresh and grilled sea food to delight your palate. I enjoyed a meal of grilled fish and fries here.
The Mosque of Divinity and African Renaissance Monument are also 2 nice places I saw.
Before leaving for Ghana, I stopped by the Sea Plaza shopping mall to buy gifts for my friends and family back at home.

Good for seasoned travelers who like to get with the people.
Good for seasoned travelers who like to get with the people. Senegal is a fast-growing region with plenty of young people. Dirt roads are the main surface in Dakar but once out of town, you will find modern highways.

Hi
My is name is Al. I was born in Guinea but grew up in America. I was in Senegal to visit families.
Good:
The place was wonderful. Clean. The pool was clean and everything else.
The bad
The big refrigerator was not working but the provided small one new. Some of the toilets has issue draining water. But with the host Babacar everything was possible. The guy was excellent, nice and very disponible. Always available when needed something. If it wasn’t him, I wouldn’t have stay there during my stay. Because of the address

I felt safe and there were many things to see. The people I encountered were beyond friendly and helpful. I took a taxi a few times and the drivers were fair. I walked around the city during the day and at night and felt comfortable. The beach was very nice and clean.

Traveling by bus from Gambia to Senegal was not a good...
Traveling by bus from Gambia to Senegal was not a good experience. The actual Driving time should have been not more than 6hrs but we took almost 11hrs due to check points....The officers were very aggressive, rude and very very unfriendly. Maybe flying might be better. I will never go into Senegal via bus from Gambia. Ironically the bus from Gambia was a Gambia government owned commercial buses.
The hostess is delightful, the apartment - though the fact that it is shared is not stated in the description - is truly spacious, and the bed the most comfortable I've slept in so far in Senegal. It is sqeaky clean and cool and quiet despite being on a major street under construction. Oh, and the TV has Netflix, I think, though I realised later that I simply needed to ask for the Internet to be activated for the TV. Village des Arts is not far - I walked there - and worth a visit.
Great location, beautiful external layout with the private beach and harbour, sea view to the cliff islands, fabulous pool. Also liked the convenience of the interior - very cosy, felt good from first moment. Excellent breakfast buffet and traditional senegalese food. Great details like an ATM on site. Changed my travel plans so I could stay here twice during my visit. Loved it! Best place in Dakar and Senegal.
My stay at Boma was hands down one of the best! I loved having a bungalow room that was both private and allowed you to not feel too isolated. The meals served at the Kitchen were always just perfect! The staff was top notch all around - friendly, professional, and always willing to go above expectations! If and when I return to Dakar, I can't imagine anywhere else to stay!
Everything was great, Aïssata, the manager was alwasy available to answer my questions. The studio and the 1 bed-room appartment I stayed in are well spacious and very clean. The neighborhood offers an authentic view of the Senegalese lifestyle exactly what I was looking for. Breakfast was quite good and they can also provide lunch and dinner.
Really great value for money!
Very spacious room with big comfortable bed. Clean. Situated in a quiet residential neighborhood of Dakar. It felt safe. The man who works there is very nice and helpful! The owner always replied quick to our questions by message. We took the private shuttle from the airport that she suggested, that was a good option to get to the place quick and easy.
Stayed here because of an early morning flight. If you need to be near the airport, this hotel is very convenient. There is no other reason to stay here, there's nothing else in this area.
Radisson will pick you up and drop you at the airport for free, also at very early hour. All staff speak English, service is good. Beds are comfy.
The location, across the street was BOMA, upscale Hotel w/ bar, pool, and night club. The husband & wife managers Alex & Sylvia are super attentive to your needs/ inquiries. They were nice enough to drive me to my next destination, which was a 15-minute drive.
This hotel has to be the best value in Dakar. It wasn’t just a hotel room. It was a one bedroom apartment with a full kitchen and two bathrooms. It was amazing. The service was incredible. For the price there is absolutely no way you can beat this place.
This is a splendid little family run hotel right in the heart of Dakar. The rooms are situated around courtyard so it is always peaceful despite being in a very bustling area. The staff are all helpful and kind. The driver is splendid.
I really enjoyed my stay the staffs are are so caring they're the best they really take Good care of the guest I will recommend my friends in Gambia when ever they are travelling to Dakar book the hotel
Great location, you can walk all around Plateau !
Nice hotel with a green courtyard and restaurant.
You can get a transfer from the airport, that is quite far.
The people were great. It's within walking distance form the Museum of Black Civilizations. The staff are really helpful with tips on Senegalese culture.
