A super cute small town in the middle of the Swedish arctic.
A super cute small town in the middle of the Swedish arctic. Make sure to book your tours in advance as there is not too much to do in Kiruna itself. Walking through the city and the surrounding nature is absolutely gorgeous in winter. Take care that the Buses needed to go to different places are very unreliable and don't run on weekends or holidays (especially the ones going to ICE hotel and jukkasväri). Not many restaurant options and many were closed when I was there (Christmas time) or closed early.

I wouldn't spend more than 4 days in Kiruna, and make sure you book lightsofvikings.com for northern lights hunting, they do everything professionally, you wouldn't regret it. We saw aurora borealis. And dog sledding. Ice hotel is a must visit! really like how they do it, and about 10-15 minutes walk you can see reindeer farm! And we don't like the old city, because they move the city to the new city, giving us the impression like in the walking dead movie, no one there, so quiet and no life, especially in winter.

We enjoyed all the activities we had in the beautiful landscapes of Kiruna, from dogsledding, to northern lights hunt, to snowmobile, to visiting a Saami village and reindeers. We highly recommend this place, preferably staying outside of the center that feels closer to nature.

Kiruna is a nice city, quite, clean, the land is beutifull.
Kiruna is a nice city, quite, clean, the land is beutifull. The visitor center in the mine has to be visited and Abysko National Park. In winter snowmobile has to be tried. Their is nice panaroma about the city from a mountine where seat lift or car takes on.

That was a real winter vacation with a lot of snow and cold. I can’t say that I would want to live there permanently but just for a visit it was a great experience. We had a lot of fun with activities like Husky-tour, Northern-light tour, visiting Ice-hotel…

Although the tours have a high cost, they are unique.
Although the tours have a high cost, they are unique. The snowmobile ride to the Ice Hotel, visiting the Ice Hotel and getting to know reindeer breeding are attractions that I recommend for everyone who lives in warmer climates and will hardly have this experience. Kiruna is an amazing place to consider visiting.
fantastic experience! i stayed in one of the reindeer cabins and it was exactly what i was hoping for - not very big, but you have everything you need, and it was very cozy. great location, not too far from the city center, walking distance to the ice hotel and the sami museum, amazing display of the lights right outside the cabin. tony and nick were very helpful - assisted with booking activities and airport transfers, and were quick to answer any questions. would highly recommend!
it’s a very interesting hotel above the sami museum. cannot tell if this is a private or community ownership. it is stark, meticulously clean and perfectly functional. on weekends, there is no one around. all communication is via email and keys are left in coded boxes. however the communication is kind and caring and reliable.
there is a lovely little kitchen outside our room which was handy. and the walk into town is not far. we would stay there again if in kiruna.
if you’re not from Scandinavia and are on a budget, it’s always necessary to compromise. Given that necessity, this hotel is a very good option the rooms, albeit basic, have everything you need for a short stay. The shirt bathrooms are clean (toilet in your own room) and there’s even a sauna. The breakfast is one of the major perks. Checking in late at night is no problem at all, if everything is OK with your room.
We spent a night in Kiruna, the hotel is in the "old" city center, and met our expectation. The room was large and comfortable, we had a free convenient parking (but on weekend, parking is free), the tourist info and many places to organise trips are a few 10s of meters away. The breakfast was good, and the hotel has a restaurant, but on Saturday evening one should reserve well in advance.
SPIS is a really nice hotel / hostel. We had a private room with a share bathroom. The room was pretty spacious and clean.
The common bathroom and toilets were pretty clean as well and easy to access.
The breakfast is amazing and the sauna is great.
The common kitchen is clean and spacious.
I totally recommend this accomodation, it was my second time there.
Excellent situation, you can visit the ice hotel or the Abisko National park nearby the camp, you don’t have to move from the camp to see the northern light, we were able to see them from our cabin. The reception is almost always open and the people are more than happy to help.
Amazing place in very best position for Aurora chasers , with a magical view on a frozen river and Ice Hotel … and the best staff who stands 24/7 at your service ,to help you with everything you need , provide you all necessary informations and to make you feel like home .
You have your own toilet and shower. Best stay i had in 3rd building because of super cool chill zone on 2nd floor - it was awesome with pool table, darts and other games and TV! Kitchen is big and clean - easy to use ect!
Free parking around buildings was good.
The owners were so nice! Our car got stuck on our way to the hotel, and they drove out to help us. Overall, they were super sweet and helpful throughout the stay. The bed was also really comfortable and it was nice and cozy in the cabin. I truly love this place!
Best place to stay in kiruna, totally recommend for backpackers ,so clean full of everything that u need , I hope comeback one day , I live the place and the emplacements. Not far from everywhere and the landscape around magnifique.
Magic place everrrr🤗
The best place to stay in Kiruna. There is a shuttle available from railway station (by the local government) which takes you to the hotel. Buffet is good and there are some shops around (COOP) to pickup food if you are a vegetarian.
The hotel staff was exceptional in their hospitality and modesty. They communicated softly and offered us insightful guidance on local attractions and dining options. I wholeheartedly endorse this hotel to anyone traveling to Kiruna
We went to this hotel for the location outside of Kiruna, and the location is perfect for doing short hikes outside and getting away from most of the light polution. The beds were comfortable and the lounge area very cosy.
Very nice hotel with, a cozy, warm, and spacious room. Excellent breakfast with many different options, and a superb spa experience, which is a must-try. The price is high, but it is the value for money.
