Ferragudo is a little gem of a traditional fishing town.
Backstreets with family run cafes, restaurants, bars but nothing too over crowded.
The town square is the central hub day and night but quieter off street restaurants also available so best of both.
The beach is wide, clean and interesting to watch the fishing boats coming and going.

Ferragudo is a pretty fishing village on the Algave.
Ferragudo is a pretty fishing village on the Algave. It has 2 lovely beaches, the Praia Grande has a handful of bars and restaurants and sun loungers for hire but does not feel particularly crowded, its a great sandy beach for kids with safe, swimming water and pedalos for hire. The town has some lovely restaurants and is very pretty and typically Portuguese with winding streets and colourful houses. I would suggest its not ideal for parents with small children as there are a lot of steps which could be a challenge with a buggy.

Ferragudo has retained its charm as a fishing village, despite being a popular destination for tourists.
Views accross the bay are beautiful.
There are several good restaurants to choose from, including the quayside fish -grilling ones, in addition to the option of dining in at Vitor's Village.
There is a large and popular beach close to Ferragudo, (Praia Grande) in addition to smaller cove beaches a little further afield.
There's a cliff walk of about 7Km along to the (larger) village of Carvoiero, which takes around 3 hours and involves some "scrambling" ; like a lot of the local coastal walks it's good to do "one way" and arrange a lift back!

Nice little town as a destination for a morning walk to get a coffee or freshly squeezed orange juice. Lovely town square with good restaurants and friendly waitstaff. Small fresh fruit and vegetable market and fresh fish on the docks. Very nice large beach close to town and several smaller beaches close by. Challenging hiking paths were also close by. We used Ferragudo as our base while we explored all of the Algarve. Parking the car was a problem but that seems to be the case in all of Portugal.

Train station area is terrible, but hotel area is like a different world.
As busses are often late, you can cross the bridge on foot and after 2,5 km you are in Portimao, where is big Shopping center etc.

Ferragudo is a small fishing village on the river Arade.
The beach is beautiful- with cliffs to the rear. The kalu bar on the beach is the best in our opinion.
Because of its reputation Ferragudo has become very popular- therefore peak season is very crowded.
However it is so worth a visit.
Accommodation was exceptional. Spacious, stylish, clean. Everything you could think of available for use.
The stunning sunset views each evening on the rooftop was the icing on a cake.
Ferragudo town is a gem - fabulous traditional backstreets, beautiful beach, amazing restaurants and a couple of brilliant bars. We were lucky enough to be there during a local festival which just added to the amazing atmosphere of the town.
The pool facilities at the Vitor Village was great. Plenty of sunbeds available at any time of day.
The kitchen was well equipped. I was delighted to find an air fryer. The garden was great. We loved the space. There were only two of us but it was perfect.
It was a short walk to the beach which was fantastic. Ferragudo was great. We didn’t like the look of Portimao but on our last day took the water taxi across. We were very impressed. Whereas Ferragudo feels sleepy, Portimao was buzzy and vibrant. We visited the market which was an eye opener. So many different kinds of fish. We loved it.
What an absolute treasure of a stay! We could experience living in the village like locals, and relax in the beautiful garden. The thoughtful details {and customized air conditioning in each room} made this a wonderful space for our family of five + golden retriever. They even had dog bowls provided! Along with local wine and waters upon arrival. Kind + personable hosts. Restaurants and cafes all around. But yet, quiet in the best way. ✨
Very well kept, beautiful facilities, fantastic view.
The hosts treat you so well, kind of like how your parents treated you when home on break from university....before they realized you would be moving back into the basement after graduation. Can't recommend this place highly enough, only worry that all the positive reviews will make it harder to book in the future.
You simply cannot fault this accommodation. Situated in an attractive, quiet location within walking distance to Ferragudo and local beaches, the townhouses are clean, spacious and have all the amenities you require. The staff are great. I would highly recommend to other families.
The house was absolutely gorgeous and right in the heart of Ferragudo which is a lovely fishing village on the Algave. Within a few minutes you could be in the town square having a delicious meal or on the beautiful beach. All round a perfect holiday home!
staff was lovely, location was perfect (if you want to be away from the crowds), short from an incredible beach with cliff walk trails. facilities were immaculate and super nice, great design. incredible infinity pool. breakfast poolside was top notch!!
Excellent hotel , very clean and comfortable with friendly staff . Breakfast was very good . Best hotel gym we have seen and all round great facilities . About a 20 minute walk in to Ferragudo - taxis are relatively cheap if needed
house very pretty and modern inside...host was very responsive to trying to fix issues issues with wifi
good location re access to numerous restauants and cafes in Ferragudo and to water taxi service acrross to Portimao
whole aparthotel was well managed .spotlessly clean.
All staff where friendly apartment cleaned every day Reception staff where friendly and polite.
Very near village centre and an easy walk to bars an restaurants.
Wendy and Mario, the hosts, were really kind to us and made the remote key-handling process very simple.
The apartment is comfortable, clean and very well located within minutes of beaches and restaurants.
Excellent location near to the centre of Ferragudo, although up a steep hill so for those less able a car may be needed. Wonderful rooftop terrace with fantastic views. Brilliant communication from Jens!
