Cam is originally from Los Angeles and Vera is Portuguese from Porto. We met while living and working in NY. As New York City dwellers, we found ourselves devoting most of our free time to travel, mostly to places where we could surf and experience outdoor sports. We could have never imagined that our mutual love for travel and the beach would lead us to Alentejo, this amazing region, which we are now proud to call home. Having previously lived in many different countries and with friends spread all over the world, we understood that our connection to this place was a natural consequence of our journey. Quinta Camarena is not only a business for us but an ongoing life project to which we devote completely We run it under the principles of sustainable travel and respect for the environment and the local community. We hope to make our guests feel like staying at a friend´s place and that they will take a little bit of Alentejo in their hearts.

Peace and Pure relaxation. Extravagant Nature. Beautiful beaches nearby. And the feeling of staying at a cozy friend´s place. Here you´ll find an authentic experience of Alentejo's way of life. You can choose among 3 lodging units: A 4 bedroom small villa that can be rented as a whole or with individual rooms and 2 independent houses. Each one of the 3 units has a fully equipped kitchenette and a living room. All the spaces were thoughtfully curated with art and furniture pieces that we made ourselves or collected among our trips and locally handcrafted pieces. The bedsheets and towels are top quality made in Portugal. Guests can use all the outdoor areas, the garden, and the pool as well as the barbecue and the gym. We also encourage to explore the property, get familiar with the many types of trees and flowers, and find their own private spot for relaxing, reading a book, or have a glass of wine. You will hear the sing of countless bird species and the bells of sheep and goats that wander nearby. At night, the starry sky is vast and truly spectacular. With a maximum capacity for 16 people and property of 4ha, you will feel in your own private paradise.

We are happily secluded and surrounded by nature, right next to the vast biking and hiking trails of Costa Vicentina. The picturesque town of Cercal is a short walk and there you will feel like going back in time and meet a truly hospitable and genuine community. There you can find grocery stores with fresh local produce, artisans, small typical coffee places where elderly locals just sit and watch people pass by and small family-owned restaurants will offer you the wonders of traditional home-style Alentejo food. We also have amazing local vineyards and will be happy to book you a guided visit or tasting. You can choose a wide range of different beaches. the closest ones by Vila Nova de mil Fontes and Porto Covo. We can help you book a Surf or SUP Class or rental or other sports. In terms of history and architecture, the whole region is so rich and there are many interesting little spots to explore from the Roman ruins of Mirobriga, Santiago Castle, the boho village of Sao Luis. If you´re looking for nature, the views of the trails by the coast, the secret beaches of Melides or the stunning Lagoon of St Andre. We´ll be happy to share our favorite spots with you and help you plan.
