Great place to visit! Lots of history, cool architecture, lots of good restaurants. The wine district was great to walk around, and would highly recommend a port tasting tour (we visited Ferreira, which was great). A short bus or tram ride to Matosinhos beach.

Porto is situated on the valley of the river Douro.
Porto is situated on the valley of the river Douro. The valley is very steep. Porto is very attractive and not only relies on the association with Port and the cellars. The architecture is unique, the cuisine is great and the tourist vibe is excellent.
Well worth a return visit

Porto is my favourite city in the world, and the area of Bonfim, where we stayed, confirmed that for me. It's easy to get from there to just about anywhere, the whole of the inner city seems peppered with great, good, and not-so-good eating places, the views are tremendous and the people - on the whole - very friendly and mostly tolerant of my rather scanty and Lisboan-accented Portuguese. And although the parks we saw were small, there are trees everywhere. Our favourite place for food was a tiny cafeteria called 'Con Amor', but our apartment was next to an Austrian restaurant which was very good. Our stay was far too short!

Open Top Bus. Company called Grayline.
Open Top Bus. Company called Grayline. Ticket covered two different routes and a boat trip. Worth the €28 cost and lasts for 48hrs. Great for walking but has a good Metro line. Avoid Hotels up the top of the hill unless you dont mind walking up steep hills.

A vibrant city offering something for everyone.
A vibrant city offering something for everyone. We thought that Porto was one of the best cities we have visited and we both loved it. It's very easy to get around as the metro and trains are very easy to use. They are also very clean and regular. As we are no longer in the full flush of youth we did find Porto a little hilly but not excessively so. The people are very friendly and helpful and the food ranged from the ubiquitous McDonald to very good Portugese restaurants with every type of food in between. There are also a very good selection of vegetarian and vegan foods and restaurants. Porto is a city that loves it's music - it is everywhere with street artists almost on every corner that made the city feel very alive. We rarely return to a city we have visited but Porto might just change our mind.

Fantastic accommodation with wonderful staff.
Fantastic accommodation with wonderful staff. They were really friendly and helpful. Our tut tut driver was very old and gave us lots of information about Porto. The 6 bridges boat ride was a short affair but enough for my wife who gets sea sick easily. It gave us some idea of the river and it’s bridges.
The friendliness of the staff was exceptional, we were made to feel at home from the moment we walked into the hotel, nothing wasn't too much trouble. Our room had a balcony (5th floor) decent sized room with a safe, nice bathroom. The location was very good as we were first time visitors to Porto, easy to find everything, metro nearby as well as busses and train station. Lots of restaurants nearby and one under the hotel. Good continental breakfast provided. We would certainly stay at this hotel again when we revisit Portugal.
Check in was excellent. Luis Ferraz was especially helpful, taking time to show us on the map how to get to interesting and less known tourist attractions in the local area. Location was good - not far from the historic centre- we walked there via the cathedral and it was easy to get to from main oriente train station. Nice to have trees and open space in the square just outside the hotel.
The bed was the most comfortable of all we experienced on our stay in Portugal.
Highly recommended. 100 % unbelievable.
An amazing experience.
My children really loved it and it was super cool to them sleeping and living on a boat!
He had everything we needed with a very good high quality breakfast -
The host Osvaldo and his son, Thiago, were eager to help.
They made every single thing perfect.
We wish Osvaldo were our uncle in Portugal.
We would like to stay in sleep yatch hotel in the other places in our future.
Antonio is the best ambassador of Portugal. The Booking was created for such persons and approaches to the guest. You do not need five stars boring hotel experiences. You deserve real people of the country you are traveling to. And that is Antonio and his approach to the guests. Simple things which makes people care about smallest but most enjoyable part of every day life.
Best hotel during our entire trip across Portugal! Staff were friendly. Location is gold. Facilities are great (would be better to have more mirrors as the one in the room is a reflexive window from the bathroom), love all the inside jokes to entertain guests from all the stuff displayed in the room. Basically staying here is another one unique experience on its own.
The apartment was central to everything and directly across the street from the train station. The beds were comfortable, the space was very clean and loveliest of all,the host met us and she explained how to use everything and offered so many tips for Porto. She was friendly and welcoming. Our perfect start in Portugal.
Me and my wife were visiting Portugal and Spain for our 25th anniversary. Porto was part of our itinerary. We stayed at Eurostar for 2 nights. This is a fantastic place. It has nicely renovated rooms, central location and very friendly and hospitable staff. They have spa included in the price of the room.
The Alma hotel is Wahoo!! The best hotel in Portugal!! Perfect location to visit Porto by walk. The studio is so beautiful, confortable and cosy. We feel like at home. The hotel is even more beautiful than in the pictures. Every detail is perfect and the staff is amazing. Especially Diogo! :-)
What a place! beautiful decor throughout, amazing room sizes and big bathrooms. We were only there one night and would have loved to have stayed longer. Very modern, everything you need. Balcony and so central for exploring Porto. Best bed we slept in during our trip to Portugal.
Excellent staff gave us a very warm welcome and a ton of advice when we arrived. Including eating at the restaurant a few doors from the hotel. The restaurant was the best we experienced in Portugal. We had a suite at the back which was quiet and comfortable
It's a very social hostel you'll get to meet a lot of people in the common area, they also provide dinner at a cheap cost with sangria! Location is great, super close to a lot of sightseeing spots. There's an elevator which is quite rare in Portugal I guess
The room was very big compared to other hotels we had in Portugal! We loved the little terrace we had (though there was sometimes pigeon poo). Bed was comfortable. Staff very helpful and loved that the reception was 24/7.
Can recommend!
The staff was amazing - particularly Luis, Luisa, and Sam. They all went above and beyond to make our stay at Guest House Douro the best of our 2 week vacation in Portugal. And, you cannot beat the location!
loved the time in Sintra after the crowds were gone. felt like a local. owner very responsive and helpful. liked having a washer and clothesline since we were halfway though our time traveling in Portugal.
Apartment is brilliantly located, spacious and clean.
Great TV bouquet for the quiet times!!
By far the best accommodation experienced in 2 plus weeks in Portugal
My birthday fell during our stay and on their own the staff delivered champagne and dessert to our room. Breakfast was the best we had in any hotel in Portugal.
