Beautiful part of Porto, right over the river with plenty to do. Most of the Porto wine "caves" are on this side of the river but getting across is a quick uber ride. We did a Tuk Tuk tour as well and got to enjoy a Fado performance at night. New Years Eve dinner cruise was great but book ahead so you don't miss out! I would definitely visit again!

The area has plenty of interesting things to visit.
The area has plenty of interesting things to visit. Of course, the region is very well known for the vineyards and the respective Port wine cellars, which you can visit and even have a wine tasting. A walk by the river is also recommended.

Vila Nova de Gaia is the perfect place to stay when visiting Porto. The views of the Dom Luis 1 bridge and the city are exceptional. All the port houses are this side of the river and it is full of restaurants and bars.

Being across the river from the old town means gorgeous views and a wonderful relaxed vibe. So many great places to eat and drink all within a short walk. And the old town is easily accessible by foot, tram, even cable car. You are surrounded by the port warehouses, and other renovated industrial buildings. The whole area has had a recent facelift and the city as a whole is very safe and friendly. Everywhere you go the staff and shopkeepers go out of their way to make sure you have an amazing stay. Except the lady in the tourist information. She must have been having a bad day!

Great for walking, views and access to historical areas of both sides of the river. People are suer friendly, and the area is very touristy. We walked the waterfront for several miles and had a great time, as well as the normal touristy stuff.

Wonderful riverside location with a beautiful view across the river to Porto. Lots to do and many restaurants and bars close by.
We enjoyed using the cable car and it was a short walk over the bridge to Porto.
The Port cellars are all here and it’s only a short bus or tram ride to beautiful beaches.

the location in Gaia, on the west side of the Douro River, is on the rail line one block from the metro station that provides access into Porto. They provide parking (at an additional but fair price). If this is your first time to the Porto area it is a good place in terms of staying away from the fray of Porto. There is a shopping center across from the metro station (one block away and same side of street as hotel) so if you need to find something you can get it there. Staff was helpful and friendly.
We had an outstanding stay. The staff was highly service minded at check-in and check-out (Fransesca), amazing view of Porto from our hotel/room and a free upgrade was a very pleasant surprise. The breakfast at the terrace was an excellent start of the day. Yeatman's proximity to the WoW (World of Wine) museum was brilliant and the museum was very interesting in a modern educational setting. We will come back and stay at the Yeatman again.
The location was a taxi in to town but get a bolt it’s about 5-6 euro depending where you go in Porto. It’s a bit expensive for a budget hotel but Porto is an expensive area.
The rooms were small with a comfortable bed. If you have a lot of luggage it won’t fit in the room.
The hotel had a nice little garden to sit in nicely done and the restaurant was clean. We didn’t have breakfast for 9 euros each but it looked good.
Amazing hotel, amazing staff, especially Miguel who helped me with personal arrangements for our celebration. Very helpful staff provided recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing. Couldn't fault it and will definitely return! Fantastic experience, probably the best hotel in Porto, certainly one of the best hotels I've stayed in (and I've stayed in thousands!).
The lady in the hotel was very gentle and helpful. Due to the fires in Portugal I could not make the initial reservation and showed up in the hotel three days earlier. Although both reservations were non-refundable she accepted to refund me for the non-show day. An excellent breakfast and very willing staff to help on everything we asked.

Breakfast was brilliant - the breakfast experience at Novotel Porto Gaia exceeded my expectations in every way. The staff's professionalism, friendliness, and willingness to assist made me feel truly valued as a guest. The wide selection of fresh produce ensured a delightful culinary experience, and the flexible opening hours catered to my needs.
From the moment we walked in the reception area, and began our adventure here in Vila Nova de Gaia, and then departed 4 days later, we had the most spectacular visit at your beautiful hotel! The staff totally made our visit perfect! They were the happiest people that made us feel so welcome!! We miss you all so much already!!! Thank you!!
Loved the view over the Atlantic and loved the location, able to walk to bars and restaurants close by but also able to walk, about an hour or so if done at a reasonable pace without stops, in to Porto along the river bank. The restaurant that is linked with the hotel, just down the hill has excellent food and view.
The facility is beautiful, in an old house with typical furnishings! Despite being in Vila Nova de Gaia the metro stop a few meters away allows you to reach Oporto very easily. Excellent for this reason.
The owner very kind!
Location is perfect (albeit at the top of a hill -- Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia are hilly!) and convenient to everything. Apartment is comfortable and has an amazing view of the river. There is a kitchen, which is useful.
This is perfect location to see Porto for a couple of days. Everything is close by: restaurants, public transportation: parking (17 euro a day). Communication was easy. We'll be back.
The location is priceless as the view from the Living room is stunning. We met people who stayed in good hotels in Porto who lost for words when they sav.oured the view we had
Best hotel I have ever stayed at , the staff is amazing. The staff couldn't have done anything more for us or made it any better. Will stay here every time I come to Porto.
Excellent location, great breakfast, spacious and nice designed common areas, nice room (I booked personal room with Porto view), friendly personnel. Recommend to everyone
Very nice hotel, interior fantasic, personel very kind esp.Pedro! If I visit Porto again for sure book it again! Outdoor pool with heating water, bueno!
