Ponte de Lima is a perfect place for a pilgrim on the Camino to take a rest day. Perfect place to get your laundry done properly, catch up with your sleep. Lots of nice restaurants to eat in. Many interesting alleys to walk through and enough sights to take in a day.

Ponte de Lima is a remarkably well-preserved, historically important village in Northern Portugal. It has been a crossroads for centuries. Probably for a Druids-like culture, definitely for the Romans, for hundreds of thousands of pilgrims walking the historic Camino (Caminho in Portuguese), as well as for people traveling east-to-west from the mountains to the Atlantic.
Today, Ponte de Lima continues to be an important crossroads as well as gathering space for walking & hiking, cyclists, various forms of boating (with a champion training center along the Rio Lima), horse riding, international gardening and more.
It's hard to fully explain how much cultural importance there is in Ponte de Lima for the Minho (region), Portugal (as a country), and, indeed, all of Europe in such a small village. Well worth visiting.
I spent three weeks there, fell in love with the village, and like it so much that I intend to move there.

The village is beautiful as well as the bridge, which we walked from end to end. There were several good restaurants to choose from. Everything is within walking distance. There are great sculptures spread throughout town. We would come again.

My wife and I have been visiting Ponte de Lima for 30 years.
My wife and I have been visiting Ponte de Lima for 30 years. It has changed and become much busier over the years. However, it has managed to retain its friendly low key ambience. It is still possible to recognise the town of years ago despite the changes. A truly lovely place.

Picturesque, regional town, with old architecture and great walks within the town and its hinterland. The town opens onto a broad riverfront with great views including of a historic multi-arched bridge which gives the town its name.

Ponte de Lima is a historic town, with a medieval and a Roman bridge across the Lima. Fascinating. We stayed there overnight as part of a Minho cycling trip (self-arranged).
Had a lovely supper at the Restaurante Encanada.
Quality of furnishings and facilities within the room was excellent. Excellent attention to detail and what we really appreciated was that it is just so nice to be able to make tea or coffee in your room - when you want to! Really difficult to find any fault. These are among the nicest rooms we've stayed in anywhere in Europe - or in North America! Excellent service and courtesy from Maria and her staff. Breakfast was excellent! Also, lots of car parking space at the back of the hotel - and space in front if needed!
The location is wonderful and large with plenty of places to explore, such as a gorge, vineyards, pools and even a chapel. The owner, who also designed the property was very welcoming and the place is a short drive from major attractions in north Portugal. Definitely the property has a lot a character, is authentic in maintaining its original appeal with all the new amenities that are available there and everything is curated to detail. One of the best places to relax and enjoy slow country life away from modern life.
We really enjoyed our stay at Guest House. Diana was extremely nice and helpful. Breakfast was great and we had a very quiet room (3rd floor, at the back of the hotel). Everything was extremely clean and nice. Rooms and fixtures are modern. Nice common area on each floor. The location was excellent - right in Ponte de Lima and few steps down to the river and Ecovia and many restaurants. I would highly recommend staying here. We would not hesitate to stay here again next time we visit Ponte de Lima.
The brazilian lady from the reception is such a wonderful human being, super kind and lovely! She even went to the grocery store just to get gluten free bread for me - I have not even seen this effort being made for only one guest in 5 star hotels that I've stayed in, so I was really positively surprised. There is also free coffee, tea and water all day, so you can serve yourself. Cute common and breakfast room, shower was clean with good water pressure, the rooms were spacious and comfy.
The location is quiet and the property is just a 10 minute walk over the old Roman bridge to the centre of Ponte de Lima, alternatively just a few minutes drive away. The room and facilities were good and very clean. There is a café/pastelaria around the corner and river beaches a few minutes away. Viana do Castelo on the coast is about 30 minutes drive where there are a number of beaches and plenty of restaurants.
The location couldn't be better. It is within walking distance to the horse show at the Expolima and to all the restaurants. The room looks new and the air-conditioning worked well. The host was extremely helpful and even researched the event I was attending to answer all my questions. The building does not have parking, but there is plenty within a short walking distance
The property is in a location that allows you to easily visit Viana do Castelo, Valença, Monçao, and Ponte da Barca. The house is gorgeous and spacious. There are 3 en-suite bedrooms and a bedroom downstairs where you would have to go upstairs to use the bathroom. The induction cooktop is a plus. The host was responsive, kind, and helpful. I would recommend it to others.
The location is wonderful - we liked the quiet place surrounded by wineyards - it's on the outskirts of the small town, but as we had our own car, it was easy to drive to the centre of Ponte de Lima for dinner - there is a large parking lot
The breakfast on the terrace next to the pool was exceptional - it's a very welcoming place, the owner is a great host.
Lovely small hotel with a welcoming owner who gave me a TERRIFIC dinner recommendation! Small but sparkling clean and perfectly comfortable room in a great location in a charming city. There is a bakery downstairs that opens early, so if you are walking the Camino you can pick up breakfast and coffee. Just a few minutes' walk and you're on the Camino.
This is a beautiful place to stay while visiting Ponte de Lima for a few days or a night while doing the Camino. Our room was spotless with a really comfy bed and big soft towels. Casa de Travessa also has a washing machine and kitchen facilities. The host was warm friendly and really helpful. I would highly recommend Casa de Travessa.
The hotel is amazing. The staff is really nice and amswer to every request. The breakfast is off the charts, so many and deicious options. The parking is easy accessible and you feel safe letting your car there. I would recommend it to everyone wanting to visit Ponte de Lima.
Location, close to the small town of Ponte de Lima (15 min walk). Beautiful pool and very spacious house. Carlos and Maria are excellent hosts, very helpful and welcoming.
At first we were surprised about the lack of Hotel knowledge of bag transport services.
However, Rita investigated and supplied all of the help that we needed.
