Historic Lye Bow, est. in 1860 is just 6ks from Alexandra, located on the lake's edge at Butchers Dam. Named after the original settler; Lye Bow was a gold miner turned market garden, With mature gardens, heritage orchards and historic landmark sites, Lye Bow is now a serene retreat set within a stunning natural oasis. Our only neighbour is the Flat Top Hill Conservation Area, locally renowned for walking and mountain biking trails, with easy access to Otago's cycle trails. We offer it all here; swimming and fishing in the lake, walking & mountain biking in the hills, strolling through the beautiful gardens and orchards, plus smack bang in the middle of Central Otago with easy access to numerous vineyards, cafes, restaurants and other historic sites.
A mainlander by ancestry, I fled my corporate life in Auckland to the stunning beauty of Central Otago so that I had time to garden and paint - my two favourite pastimes.
Lye Bow has no neighbours as such. We are bounded on one side by the Butcher's Dam lake, and on the other sides by the FlatTop Hill Conservation area. But we are only 6 k's from Alexandra, 10 mins to historic Clyde, 25 minutes to Ophir or Cromwell, and approx 1 hour to Wanaka and Queenstown.
