Other points of interest and popular activities include (but not limited to): • Church of the Good Shepherd – located on the lakefront, at the end of the peninsular on the eastern side of the Tekapo River. • Mount John Observatory [#5] + Astro Café [#2] – open 9am ~ 6pm daily – entrance off Godley Peaks Road (runs along the western side of Lake Tekapo). • Earth & Sky Stargazing Tours [#84] – contact their office re tour schedules. • Tekapo Springs [#12] – spa, hot pools, summer and winter water/snow activities. • Eateries we recommend are: Astro Café [#2], Kohan [#83], Mackenzie [#76], Rakanui [#17], Reflections [#64], Run 77 [#67], Tin Plate [#81] • Transportation services - available for around town shuttle or tailored tours Ph6806240. • Mt Cook & village – beautiful scenery and walks/tramps from easy to mountaineering – 1.5 hour drive west on State Highway 8. The DOC centre is worth a visit also.
