It was an ideal location felt like it needed a refurb as curtains were dirty and torn. Bed linen was clean. Carpet was old and torn at the door. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was welcomed. Great location shame about all the building work outside as this could be noisy.

Grand Millennium Auckland, hotel in Auckland

Grand Millennium Auckland, superbly located in the city center with some of the city’s finest dining, shopping and entertainment venues at your doorstep.

I stayed three nights on different itineraries. The hotel is exquisite. I might suggest a hot tub. :) The pool and sauna were very clean! the outdoor seating was grand. The rooms were great. all was grand. Thank you. I did have airport transport promised by booking.com. They never answered me about that offer. It would have saved money outbound and return. You may want to check with them about this offer attached to your name. I will be checking in with them too but they do not answer their phone or email. Thank you for a grand time!

FAQs about hotels in Auckland

Thrilling City of Sails and Volcanoes

Called the "City of Sails" due to the large number of yachts anchored in Waitemata Harbor, Auckland is the largest city of both New Zealand and Polynesia. Built on the Auckland Volcanic Field featuring about 48 extinct volcanoes, this city truly is a blast!

Auckland is a real cultural mix with strong Asian, European, Maori and Polynesian influences, celebrated in frequent festivals and sports events. Some examples of these cultures can be seen at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, one of the best in New Zealand. For more, try the upmarket dining of Viaduct Harbour.

Another must-see is the tallest free-standing tower in the Southern Hemisphere, the Sky Tower. If you’re feeling up to the challenge, you can even perform the Sky Jump, a controlled base jump from 630 feet!

Climbing the volcanic cones as well as the stunning Auckland Harbour Bridge will provide unforgettable, panoramic views of the city’s skyline. For a different perspective, why not try a cruise or sea kayaking?

Getting to the city center is an easy trip from Auckland International Airport. Find modern hotels, comfortable motels and cheap hostels on Booking.com, sure to have the perfect place to stay for your trip.

The CBD area has a lot to walk too.

The CBD area has a lot to walk too. The dinner at the orbit in skytower was very good. The wine tour to Waiheke was lovely! Do note the ferry ride is $55 return if you book online. Piha black Sand Beach is about 50 mins from Auckland. I would suggest a stop off at the Arataki visitor centre before heading to Piha. I would also suggest going to the Mercer bay Loop. It is a bit of a steep walk, but can be done within an hour. Just make sure you do the loop and start where the marker is. The walk up the other way is not as bad as going down. The hop on hop off bus was helpful. I also suggest a stroll up Mount Eden. You get beautiful views of Auckland.

Auckland was clean and felt safe but it wasn't terribly exciting. It's a good place to fly into / out of but only worth a day or two on its own. Around 5 -6pm and most places are closed. There's a decent selection of restraunts and cafes covering a wide range of countries / dishes. I walked everywhere but there are escooters all over the place which look to be preferred method of travel. I spent a day hiking around Rangitoto Island which was enjoyable. Very interesting to be walking amongst volcanic rubble. I went to the Sky Tower but it's not actually that tall and having just flown in, the views from the plane were far better. Also the windows on the first viewing floor were not that clean. I would not recommend the Sky Tower.

The city center is not too big, so there is no need to spend more than 2 days here. I would recommend to visit one of the islands close to Auckland like Waiheke, it was the best decision ever. I would 100% recommend to visit the sky tower, but do not waste your money eating at the Orbit 360 restaurant, the food is not worth the money, maybe try the bar.

Fantastic stay at Aarangi Motel. Beautiful large clean room, just 100m from a lovely beach, bars and bus stop to the city centre ( buses every 15 minutes) Despite the weather being very hot and humid the room was beautifully airy and we rarely needed to use the two fans provided. Veronica was a great host and, nothing was too much trouble. With access to Auckland CBD just a 15 minute bus ride away I think we would always stay here in preference to a city hotel / apartment. Thank you very much Team Aarangi, you made our stay superb

Situated in Auckland CBD next to Sky Tower this hotel is as central as it gets. Transport from/to airport is easy with Uber. I reccon the hotel was built in the eighties and got a charm from that period. By that time this 14 story building must have been one of the highest in the neighborhood. The full English breakfast is well done. The rooms are tidy and well looked after. They leave messages if they cant tidy for instance the bed of some reason. Good!

comfortable hotel near the airport. the hotel restaurant is pretty good if a bit overpriced, which is good since nothing else is walkable. only frustration was their advance email said to call from the airport for a shuttle. they didn’t pick up and hold disconnected four times. took an Uber. it turns out the shuttle wasn’t free anyway, and was a separate service on a fixed schedule. would have appreciated that being communicated accurately

I also stayed for one night a week earlier. I asked for the same end room ’18’ which I thought was perfect. Clean with tv/wifi kitchenette and large bathroom. Could park outside the door - a unique electronic patio door mechanism. Quiet neighborhood on wide, quiet collector road. 10 minutes from the airport on the way out and close to the cross-city freeway (tried to stay out of Auckland traffic as much as possible).

Location! We flew from SFO to Auckland to go on a Princess cruise. We took a bus from the airport to Sky City bus station. From there it was a short walk (about 10-15 minutes and thankfully downhill!) to where we picked up the keys. Then another 10-minute walk to the very secure unit on the wharf. Great location to wander around for a couple days and then walk to our ship to start our cruise.

I stayed here 3 or 4 times for a couple of days over 10 weeks in New Zealand. close to bus stop for inter city bus and airport bus. Great value as location is excellent. The lower (cheaper) one bedroom floors are not so great - on 2/F there is quite a bit of street noise, but upper floors with a suite type - bedroom and kitchen/living room woith balcony are excellent and still good valiue
