It was very cold, but luckily it didn't rain and where we've stayed our heatpump was amazing. Dunedin is beautiful with very old beautiful buildings and lots of noisy students walking in the main streets until very late talking very loud and kicking rubbish bins.

We just stayed one night on our way to Stewart island as we have been here many times.
We did a trip to Port Chalmers as we hadn’t been there. It a a cute town with a working port. Worth a look and a bit of a walk around.

Dunedin has offered so much.
Dunedin has offered so much. Outstanding settler museum, art gallery and historic buildings in City Centre. Beautiful scenery and nature to enjoy without travelling far. I used the City to Peninsular bus and the Port Chalmers bus to enjoy the harbour and the Tairei Gorge train to go inland.

We enjoyed the Otago settlers museum and the Otago peninsula wildlife including penguins. We also loved St Clair beach and the Italian restaurant there. Unfortunately apart from Emerson’s brewery in Dunedin eating places were very limited and Dunedin was quite down at heel.
Hotel is great. Friendly staff. Could be a little cheaper based on location. It’s about a half hour walk into the city centre, but very flat and an easy stroll. Understandably, some facilities have been cut down (after covid I would imagine) They have a great system set up with a local restaurant. You can order from your room and they deliver to the hotel. Well done Heritage. I felt really welcome by everyone I spoke to! Special shoutout to the lovely housekeeping staff, who often get overlooked. Such a hard job. You guys rock!
This hostel is central to Dunedin, so you do not have to walk far to the restaurants and bars in the Octagon. The hostel sits over a large bar with a lot of billiard tables. Seems very popular with the locals and college students studying at the nearby University of Otago. The dorm rooms are typical bunk bed layouts with budget twin mattresses. The bathrooms were reasonably clean and a decent kitchen area. They have free breakfast, but it is a pretty minimal offering.
right in the heart of St Clair. Great restaurants on the doorstep, walk on the beach, close to town. Dunedin really has the most beautiful beaches. the hotel is beautiful and old, tall ceilings, and comfy bed, it was surprisingly warm considering it is an old building. I stayed in July, so middle of winter. The Shower had good pressure. and it was a really big apartment. I didn't even use the lounge room. the photos I have uploaded are from local beaches.
everything in this apartment is high end and luxury in a historical building!
love the furniture and interior design! full of Victorian character!
love the food, coffee and tea provided.
Dan is a great host! we had a little problem with the microwave in one of the evenings. after messaged Dan, he rang me immediately and had Andrew came and fixed it in a minute! that was incredible! Bell Hill apartment is the highlight of our Dunedin trip!
Excellent space, style and layout. The apartment has been beautifully restored and well appointed.
While the apartment is next to a busy arterial road, and naturally gets some traffic noise in the lounge (but not excessively so), the double glazing and general soundproofing works a treat in the bedroom.
It's situated next to a part of Dunedin that has gone through a revival so the food options are on point.
Put simply, I could live here.
The hotel was well situated - convenient to walk into central Dunedin, and close to restaurants. The owners of the hotel were very friendly and helpful - provided lots of advice about places to visit and where to eat.
We were also able to use the washing machine and dryer which was very handy.
Our bed was comfortable and the room well appointed.
Definitely recommend as a place to stay in Dunedin.
It was a great location next to the Settlers Museum and historic train station. Within a few blocks of lots of restaurants and shopping. The free parking was a convenience and with everything so close, we walked everywhere.
The hotel had a very nice lounge overlooking the street where I worked on my computer.
Really feels modern room as advertised, cozy, bathroom is just amazing, close to almost every central place in Dunedin, self service instructions were super clear and easy check-in. Will definitely stay here again and highly recommend this Hotel to others.
The room had a wall-mounted TV with accessible and functioning HDMI inputs, and the free wifi was good enough for video calls most of the time. Both of which is more than I can say for some more expensive hotel rooms in Dunedin.
Beautifully appointed in soothing blue-gray tones. Pristine, well maintained, modern, perfection. Loved the jacuzzi tub, monogrammed linens and bathrobes. Best hotel in all NZ so far. Loved our 3 night stay at BG!
Great CBC location & central to everything.
A basic somewhat old fashion Hotel from Art Deco - Edwardian era, very comfortable but not posh.
WE highly recommend the Law Courts Hotel.
The Distinction Hotel Dunedin is a shining example of old-school customer care, warmth and quality all wrapped up in a beautifully kept heritage property. Dunedin should be proud.
I had an enjoyable couple of days in Dunedin. The hotel was close to the places I wanted to visit and parking was a bonus. Staff were friendly and I had no complaints. Thank you.
The design, the beds - cleanliness and big windows. Despite being a smaller hotel everything felt big and wide open. Wonderful ambience. And lovely staff!
Clean and comfortable hotel room in the heart of Dunedin. Walking distance to the Octagon and numerous restaurants and cafes. Friendly and helpful staff.
