FAQs about hotels in Oslo

Into the Wild in Oslo

Spreading for hundreds of miles from the mouth of the Oslofjord, Oslo is the largest city by area in Europe and is liberally covered in pristine forests rising up into the outlying hills. South of the unassuming city hall lies a vibrant waterfront known as Aker Brygge, which in summer is full of bustling outdoor restaurants and bars.

For the prettiest buildings head to affluent inner-city suburbs of Frogner and Fagerborg, or admire the traditional Scandinavian wooden houses of Bygdøy and Holmenkollen. Monumental buildings include the Royal Palace which runs daily tours and the Akershus Festning, which is a medieval castle that also served as a military base and provides impressive views of the Oslofjord. Oslo City Hall, or rådhus, offers even more distinctive architecture and it is the location of the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.

Nature is never far away in Oslo which is ringed by an archipelago of islands which are extremely popular in summer. Hiking, kayaking and sailing are all easily achievable within the city limits. Just as popular are the many museums. The national Museum houses Edvard Munch’s famous painting The Scream and Viking Ship Museum containing long-lost relics from Norway’s Viking past.

From downtown Sentrum to the Oslo Airport Gardermoen to the stunning statues in Frogner Park, Booking.com has over 80 hotels and other accommodations available.

What a great city! I hope to come back again someday. Lovely people, lots of great walking areas. Excellent infrastructure for travellers (easy train transport from the airport to downtown); the tram was easy to take as a foreigner. Food was delicious everywhere we went. We were especially impressed with the Comfort Hotel Børsparken.

Oslo is the capital of Norway, but it doesn't feel like a busy city where everyone is in a hurry to go to work or study. There are several local museums to suit all tastes. The presence of several large parks and the option to go to nature by public transport makes Oslo an ideal city trip location for me.

Oslo was very nice- we went in March.

Oslo was very nice- we went in March. I would recommend to go more in the summer as a lot of activities were closed still and we had rainy weather. The city was very quiet, but also very expensive, so it is not a budget-friendly holiday destination! The saunas were very nice- I would highly recommend. We also went to Well spa, a short bus ride away which was an unforgettable experience.

Such a beautifully clean and safe city.

Such a beautifully clean and safe city. So much history, creativity, design and art is evident throughout this city. I have never felt more safe in a city than I did here. I wish I had more time to enjoy the tourist activities. It is also a foodies haven, so many fabulous options. The city is quite walkable and transit seems like a great alternative. I did not encounter anyone who could not or did not speak English. The people were friendly. The only downfall, it is a very expensive city. The waterfront was my favourite place to spend any leisure time I had. Don't take a taxi from the airport if you can help it, there is a train that goes from the airport right into the central station in Oslo - apparently much faster, cheaper and more convenient. I will know for next time.

The location ( near the bus, train station, and downtown), the view from our window, the spaciousness of the room and bathroom, and how clean it was. The staff was always friendly and helpful. A very attractive and comfortable lobby area too, and it was nice to have cold water available by reception. The building is so tall it was a bonus to be able to see it from a distance for those of us with a bad sense of direction! We actually stayed twice, it was our base for traveling elsewhere in Norway.

We arrived at midnight and checked in to Anker Hotel, the receptionist was so kind to give us a temporary room to stay just for that night to avoid disturbing our 2 friends who were already in the booked room. There is also a corner of "Free food" where you can take (those were leftovers from the guests). They have luggage room for free. The location is close to the city center or central station. There are lots of places to eat in the area and supermarkets.

This hotel was one of our absolute highlights during our Norway trip! We were greeted with heartiness and instantly felt super comfy. The pool was huge, sauna was nice too. Rooms were spacious and super tidy, and, in general, this more than 100 years old hotel showed the class of a Grand Hotel! On top, breakfast was outstanding.
